My dogs prefer the windows.
I believe the SUV rear window is the cab window relocated.

Since this is a year old thread, does anyone know if getting a cargo kit is still an option? Starting to think more about this as we approach order time. That pic is Badass!

Hey David,

Thank you for contacting Slate! We're glad you asked, and we're definitely planning for some dog-friendly accessories for our Slate. Agreed, it sounds like the Cargo Kit would be the way to go, as it provides the topper without seats or a rollbar, but other than that it provides all the same capabilities as the SUV Kit.

Let me know if this helped answer your question or if there's any additional information we can help clarify.

Best,
Gianni

On Slate's FAQ page as of today, the cargo kit is still available:
  • Pickup: every Slate starts out as a 2-seat pickup, aka the blank Slate. From there, you can add any of the following kits:
  • Squareback SUV Kit: seats 5, with classic SUV lines.
  • Fastback SUV Kit: seats 5, with a sportier silhouette.
  • Open Air Kit: seats 5, with no hardtop or windows in the rear for thrilling, wind-in-your-hair driving.
  • Cargo Kit: adds van-like covered cargo storage to the pickup, perfect for fleets or small businesses.

If I were Slate I would prefer to reuse the squareback or fastback top in the cargo kit rather than create a 3rd windowless top. If someone wants it windowless they can accomplish that with a wrap.

Without seat and rollbar, Cargo kit ought to be a decent flat pack.

And be true to their multi use philosophy

Wonder if its better to order a blank slate and then do the cargo top as a mod. Maybe get the blank delivered faster? We've done Jeep hard tops both ways. Got Jeep faster as soft top (and then had both) but factory installed hard top was cheaper and had better set up. Either way we'll probably treat it like Jeep and take it off and on depending on need. Can't wait but have to!

My understanding at this point. To get a slate with anything other the extended battery installed, it must go to a 3rd party for that installation. My guess is that will be a separate charge. Or, accessories can be ordered and shipped separately for DIY installtion.

There is no factory install. Trucks will leave factory blank and if you paid for install of accessories, unless something new is announced, those accessories will be installed at the nearest installer to you.
