Electric Motor - JJE Technologies

I'm watching a YouTube video that came out 2 days ago from AutoBuzz that claims that the electric motor power train (3 in 1) will be produced by JJE Technologies which is a Chinese company with manufacturing facilities in the US ???

From what I was able to find out, they supply EV motors to Many EV makers worldwide. Since they are located and headquartered in Beijing China they probably provide the motors to BYD.

They claim virtually a Zero Defect motor and have obviously proven themselves as a global leader in this technology. I stated in a different thread that I hope they use a tried and true motor so I guess they are.

Now the China factory. They say they have manufacturing facilities in the US but how much of it can be made here??? JJE partners with Allison Transmission here in the US to produce this 3 in 1 motor combo so at least the transmission portion is US. How will this China tariff trade war affect this motor? When Slate stated made in the USA did they really mean to say "assembled in the USA" ??? So I guess the Slate speaks Chinese after all

The Chinese origins of the motor isn't a bad thing. I feel the tariff issue is main hurdle with it. China is doing the most innovation in the realm of EVs and has years of experience manufacturing motors from the likes of small computer fans to large induction motors.

Like most manufacturers, I think the chassis, suspension, and software that controls the car is all Slate, but key individual components are sourced from elsewhere like the motor and battery. Shocks are probably from an OEM as are rubber bushings in control arms and ball joints.

Given the state of play right now it’s unlikely the powertrain would be imported. They stated at intro that it would be manufactured here including the battery.
