What bad timing for Slate... this is frustrating! Meanwhile fossil fuel subsidies ($646 billion annually) remains.

Hopefully a few senators defect and vote this down.

If this happens it could very well be a death sentence for Slate. Now you're at close to $30k after taxes and fees.

Maverick starts at $28k and it's battery lasts longer. Oh wait ....

Also, if Slate was banking on this incentive to always be there then they have already set themselves up for failure. If Ford ever pulls their head out of the sand and produce a 2 door Maverick with a 6' bed then Slate has been cancelled. Unless your dead set on only driving a battery operated vehicle

Not going to happen. Slate was designed as an EV from the ground up. Did anyone really believe the current federal incentives would last through the first round of deliveries in 2026-27?

Best case scenario would be to offer incentives on bundling options, e.g. extended range battery , SUV kit, wraps, etc. to help offset the loss of the EV tax credits.

I found the silver lining for when they cancel the $7,500 tax credit.

The credit is based on a majority of the vehicle being sourced in the US. LFP batteries are far less expensive and better overall but mostly come from China and therefore do not qualify. If the tax credit goes away then Slate is free to get there batteries anywhere they want.

If this happens and they can go with the cheaper and better LFP battery the cost may only increase a few thousand $ instead of the full $7,500 making this an even better truck I would be willing to spend some more on. I would probably be willing to spend the full $7,500 if it came with a long range LFP battery even though they are technically cheaper.

I would get some of my money back after 15 years when the battery still has 35 years of life left in it

Gotta admit...lot less appealing at above 30K...prolly wait for a second hand unit, let someone else take the depri hit.
