You are not weird for asking any of the above questions since I share your concerns. I was fortunate to sit in a production intent Slate and wanted to comment on a few items. For the plastic surfaces there is a nice grain to the texture, but it feels solid and the gage is decent (better than expected). Couldn’t get it to flex much. I recall sitting in some Honda’s where the door cards were paper thin and could flex quite a bit (knee test). Also, the window cranks were a nice surprise as the round knob (the part you touch) has a soft padded feel to it. And the carpet lining in the rear SUV option is rather surprisingly thick. I commented to Slate that it’s better than I experienced in some Lexus models. The doors close with a solid thunk, the ride is smooth, quiet, and feels quick on acceleration. I didn’t hear any squeaks, rattles, or wind noise on my test drive. And I consider myself a tough grader.

It’s apparent to me that Slate is trying to build a solid little pickup at an attractive price that doesn’t feel cheap. You won’t be disappointed.

8. Addressed this already could be a bit more clicky but not bad it feels like an Xbox D-Pad instead of a Nintendo D-Pad from what I remember. That’s the best description I can give.

I think I can live with that. My Element has these strange-deep press soft buttons for the radio / climate control too. My Thunderbird CC buttons had a nice click feel to them. As long as I'm not using my Slate cruise control / radio buttons for a fighting game I think I'll be fine with the xbox-feel lol.

Great feedback from those who went! I really wish I could get some time in a pre-release one to benchmark it against my Geo.

Good question, I checked that as well. The good news is that there was no discernible rattle of the glass when inside the door frame upon closing the door. When the window is rolled down, you don't get that pressure wave, but the door still felt solid upon closing as they use a compliant bulb seal around the inner door frame.

Someone posted on FB the NYC Crayola event photos with a nice closeup of the "behind the panels" dash. 2 USB-C plugs and a cigarette lighter style 12 VDC outlet. Unknown if these will be Acc on or always on. If this will be as DIY as Slate claims they will have to provide info on location and wiring for things like air bags, High Voltage lines, etc. If they intend for this to be a work truck, their should be provisions for a "beefer" 12 V battery, for thigs like a winch, CB, Family, Ham radios. They stated that a possible option will be heated seat covers. Will their be a 12 VDC plug under the seats for this? They offer 2 types of switches STD. and upgraded...why did it upgrade for the fog lights? Why does it matter? I hope they give a very detailed rundown of the production model when they start to roll off the line. There are many changes from the beta version and probably more to come in the next few months. I am getting tired of seeing what colors I can get...I want to see how things tick!

OK - the headliner has a felt lining that some auto journalists might refer to as 'mouse fur.' The same kind of lining you might find in a glove box. And yes, it's black.

They did add a Aux 5-switch console option for $40 which I thought was absolutely amazing! On my list! ✅
So I assume they figure there will be people with a lot of 12V accessories to add. Hopefully a nice clean install to access the 12V leads.
I’m just shocked that this is an option for this truck when I couldn’t any factory options for my F150.

There are two different switch banks, one for the standard console and another bank for the upgraded center console. Nothing to do with current capacity, just design fitment.
