Didn’t part of Pep Boys get sold recently?

The parts sales portion went away a while back. Currently the remaining, which is repair shops is being bought by Mavis.

Yes, Repair Pal is optional. I hope to repair a Slate myself.

Slate told me that with their roadside assistance that if you need towed they will pay to tow to the nearest authorized repair facility if available. They did not say within how many miles. So I don’t know what will happen if there is no authorized facility near by.
Hopefully they will clarify everything before deliveries begin.

Correct, if you want it taken somewhere else you will pay for the tow.
But that is no different than any manufacturer warranty or roadside assistance, it is usually to the nearest one of their dealers, if you want to take it to a different dealer then they will not cover that.
