Looking at the Preorders Tracking List, I'm curious about these folks that have duplicates. Are these unique orders, or are they duplicates?

I'm going to "read into" these updates a bit. I think that people who have previously had "coming soon" but now have "Jul-Sep" is a really good sign. It could just mean that Slate isn't getting to their area for awhile, but since a number are in TX, VA, and TN I think that means the current number of orders are maxing out their expected production rates. I.E. People are buying the thing. I think it would be a bad sign if everybody got bumped up to January.

The clear duplicates have now been removed.

I took a stab at creating some infographics using AI (because it looked like it could be fun and I'm a nerd about data sometimes).

How these were made and what was changed:
The infographic was built using Claude working from the Slate Forums preorders tracking list as the source data. Claude handled the data cleaning, analysis, chart generation, and HTML/CSS layout. I reviewed and directed the output throughout.

Because the tracker is self-reported, the raw CSV had a number of entries that needed fixing before the numbers would make sense. Here's what was corrected:
  • Date typos - things like 6/26/0226 instead of 6/26/2026, or 5/25/0205 instead of 5/25/2025. These were corrected to the most obvious intended value.
  • Swapped columns - some entries had the reservation date and preorder date entered in the wrong fields (preorder date showing up before their reservation date, or before June 24, 2026 when preorders opened). These were swapped.
  • Single-date entries before row #91 - the reservation date column didn't exist in the tracker until row #91. For entries before that point with only one date, if it predated the June 24 preorder opening, that date was treated as the reservation date and the preorder field was left blank.
  • Duplicate entries - A number of entries were duplicate or unfixable and removed. In cases of duplicates, the most recent / most complete entry was kept.
In total, ~28 rows had some date correction applied. Every change was deliberate and conservative. If something was ambiguous and couldn't be resolved cleanly, it was either left as-is or the preorder date was blanked rather than guessed. Nothing was invented.

As always, take this all with a grain of salt. The source data is self-reported by community members, the cleaning and analysis was done with AI assistance, and despite best efforts mistakes can slip through, in the data, corrections, or interpretation. The correlations noted (like delivery windows and geography) are observations from a sample of 417 forum members, not confirmed Slate policy. Treat the numbers as a snapshot of what this community is doing, not as ground truth.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but there is alot of logistics going on here, too. Lots of moving parts. In the first quarter ramp up they have a model of how many units they can ship. I'm sure there are people who are going to get as close to "blank" slates as they can produce. There will be snags, maybe not enough of a particular kit (SUV, hatchback, etc) or other delivery issues. On the order front, you have ppl converting from res to preorder, then there is the leap do actual orders. Some may bail, some may get moved up, pushed back. It's going to be the wild west of sorts for them as production gets going. I'm a Q2 order, I'm fully prepared to see how the first units come out and if there are adjustments made to the timelines. Either way I'm prepared =)

Still holding at Q2!

Reserved on 5/11/25.

Southern California.

Even with "Southern California" logistics may come into play. If you are too far from LA, maybe San Diego, Palm Springs, etc, you may have a completely different pickup point.

True, true.

I'm so 'here' that I took it for granted. 😆

I'm in Irvine -- Orange County.

The truth is I don't mind waiting until April! I need to save money, but I've been unemployed for a long hot minute. 🙄
