I’m All In on buying this! - as of right now

how does the reservation list work

let’s say I’m # 30,000 on the $50 reservation

ordering opens, if I commitment #300 with financing, sign the purchase contract and ready to go

Am I #300 or #30,000 (assuming no one backs out)

I think Slate deliberately coded the reservation numbers like that on purpose so no one really knows where they are. That way they can schedule deliveries based on things like geographic location versus when you reserved. We will probably never know and they will probably never tell us

FIFO? Reservation or Purchase Agreement signed and financing approved?

huge difference, I’m guessing out of the 100,000 reservations 40% will not commit, maybe 20% will not get financing

of that 50,000 that may commit, how many will move fast to fill out paperwork to purchase?

first in first out
I figured out what FIFO is, there are a couple of FIRST IN options

Reservation - I may want it, it’s cool, we will see, when the option to buy comes I may jump I may drag my feet, I may back out

Purchase Agreement - Actual commitment to buy, I 100% want it

then there’s the one that others are saying FIFO but also delivery region groups (9 fit on a hauler and this hauler is going to Minneapolis)

When they are close to production you will probably be contacted and asked to finalize your build and place your order. At that time you will most likely have to pay a larger deposit which may not be refundable based on your build. Just like custom ordering a vehicle from any brand.

By then they will have all the logistics worked out and you may very well be contacted by the local distributor which ever form that will take. You will still need to sign paperwork, do DMV paperwork, financial and delivery paperwork and last but not least, inspect your Slate and accept delivery like any other car you would buy.

The direct to consumer sales model still requires a local element.

Just guessing TX first. Most vehicles shortest distance then Cal and Florida. Or by proximity from Indiana. Who knows. Im guessing spring 27 anyways.

With the concept of slate producing essentially the same vehicle..same color, same interior, etc, 150,000 times in a year, is getting one a few days before or after someone else a super significant thing? Especially when you consider the variables in the transportation from factory to sales point side of it alone. These are bottom of the ladder transportation "appliances", not some status symbol exotic car, once you see one, you'll have seen them all (in factory form anyway) Nothing wrong with being excited about getting one, but is it worth the angst? Is there something about these that I am missing?

Not at all. I don't think anyone would be upset if someone gets theirs before they do. I'll be happy to get one in the first year considering they may have already sold out the first year.
