Correct!
Even though the Slate is probably a CUV instead of the traditional chassis on frame design, it might be a Commercial class in California.
Should be interesting how Slate determines the classification according to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA):
"Federal Auto Designation...
Shame that Tesla Superchargers are not common in your area.
As for compatibility, Slate will most likely use only the newer V3 and V4 towers as the communication link supports charging non Teslas.
I have so many of SC nearby, but only 2/3 are usable with my Ford EV.
The other 1/3 are older V2...
Yes, exactly on the spot.
Since the Slate will be a "stripped" base model out of the production line, it will be much less complaints compared to other makes/models due to the simplicity in design.
My current Ford EV has minor issues way too many to list:
Bose sound system distortion issues...
Had V2L feature on my Lightning but didn't use it except once to power the 120V circuits in my house when a power failure happened once.
I have solar rechargeable EcoFlow that supplies emergency power and even recharges my EV in the event of grid down....
Almost all Tesla Superchargers I go - at least 5 times a week have not seen it over 50% being used at one time.
The mega 64 Tesla SC near my house is about 10% being used at any one time.
At work, I have access to 6 different locations and none get over 25% full.
Ford Lightning F150 EV was so large, it wouldn't fit inside my garage.
Eventually traded her in because it was too large for urban Los Angeles driving, god awful U turning radius, and I never did any hauling, towing or other HD truck stuff....
Ford Mach E has not been a problem, as a matter of fact, of all the cars I have owned in over 45 years, the Mach E has been the least problem for a new car.
Used cars, well I'd rather not talk about it - my BP would be over the charts....
Disabling a federally mandated safety feature is something I would never want to do as a small accident can all be on you.
Another federally mandated feature is the pedestrian AVAS safety feature for the sound but not knowing if you run over someone and they found out you disabled it - would...
Yes, the one on the left was the older V2 and the right side are the newer V3.
Tesla app only shows the right side compatible with non Tesla EVs.
The huge pain in the you know where is located in Baker, CA (halfway between Las Vegas and LA) off the 15 freeway.
Almost 100 chargers and we non...
Will the Slate be restricted to V3 and V4 Tesla Superchargers only ?
Ford, GM, and other brands are restricted to the newer chargers.
There are lots of other Superchargers that are older V2 which my EV won't work with.
It would be nice if Slate can access all Tesla Superchargers.
When I...
My electrician said that outlets have melted and burned due to the constant draw of power.
By hardwiring it, you eliminate a weak point in the power delivery cycle.
2+ years and not a single issue - no warm wires/cables at a full 48A draw.
60A dual breakers on our 200A service was just...
My 2 cents: avoid the outlet if at all possible.
Many times the outlet and plug will melt and catch fire when over time the elements cause oxidation to the contacts.
If possible, get it hardwired.
Emporia 48A hardwired to the breaker directly has given me zero issues over 2 years now.

If you look at Ford's F150 Lightning tests on YouTube, you will find that weight alone in the cab and bed will not affect range as much.
Various YT posters will show that putting 1000 lbs of cargo in the bed does not affect range much.
However, put a load that rides higher than the cab height...
We have 2 EVs in the garage and so we installed a 48A L2 Emporia J1772 charger hardwired onto 60A breakers and getting 11kW max out.
We took advantage of the 30% IRS tax credit for the charger cost plus installation labor 2 years ago.
Charger is still going strong!
