Slate. 1) I don’t want or need a full time pickup truck. The Slate Cargo with a custom wrap for my business is my preferred mode, 2) I like the Slate’s simplicity and price, 3) an EV is lower cost to run and maintain as a commuter, 4) I don’t care about towing, 5) I only have one other human to...
Maybe, maybe not. It’s a target segment but not their only target segment. Anyone trying to fit the square Slate into a round family vehicle hole is flat out wrong. Young families looking for a family hauler are not the Slate target.
What he said. Even Slate has referred to the Cargo as a van. The only thing comparable for the money is a used Transit Connect and that’s a gasser…and a Ford. Of course with the TC you get two additional sliding doors and a bit more interior volume, but no way is it as cool or as cheap to run.
Interesting read. I think the Google analogy (he calls it a "rhyme") is spot on. But I also think that if Slate was any more different, it wouldn't be a realistic choice for people. Also, if they could build it cheaper, they would.
If you are in the business of selling new replacement car speakers, of course you are going to recommend replacing your "old, worn" speakers. My 2012 JBL OEM speakers are still going strong. When I notice sound degradation, then I'll think about replacing them.
Possibly. An ICEV is also a much larger PITA to maintain than an EV. And gas is always more expensive than charging. I’m not saying Slate should build an EV sedan as their next model. In fact, I don’t think they should be thinking about ANY next model at this point in time. If model A can do 95%...
I’m with you on the bed being tight for sleeping. That said, I was able to fit (barely) a 30” x 73” sleeping cot plus fridge into my FJ and I’m pretty sure I could do the same with a Slate. Need room for two? Throw a RTT on the roof rack.
Why do we think Slate has decided to go public about Bezos’ investment? Is it to get people thinking that Amazon will be involved in vehicle delivery? I sincerely doubt it. Is it because most people think Jeff is smart with his money and knows a winner when he sees it? I think this is more...
Those marker lights are required for wider vehicles measured at the widest point. The Raptor requires them while the standard F150 does not even though the cab width is the same.
I have mixed feelings about TPMS. On my FJ it’s on the spare tire wheel so if that loses pressure, the warning light turns on. That’s annoying. When I air down my tires, it also turns on. Again, annoying. Recently I was doing some wheeling and after airing back up, the light turned on. I checked...
