Same. 2500HD 8.1L, Allison transmission, 4x4 for all things heavy hauling, towing, and gasoline usage. I swear I hear toilet flushing sounds when stepping on the go pedal.
The Slate will be all welcome run around commuter and light hauler.
Maybe we, I included are over reacting. Did the confirmation state if the remote connectivity was on the Blank Slate or an optional add-on feature?
Slate could stick to its core mission of a striped down vehicle with key fob functionality only for the Blank Slate. Additional connectivity via...
Sorry to hear. I am watching for future remote connectivity tech announcements closely. From the “strip everything out except what makes it drive” language in the reveal event, the remote app connectivity and subscription fee comment if true are shocking.
Slate appears to have confirmed remote connectivity via the ability to remote start via phone app and yet to be determined subscription fees.
I’ll reserve commenting my personal opinion until the pole response is more filled out.
Noooooooooo! I don’t want subscription fees for features on my car to work. What happened to remote start (a/c or heat) in EVs being activated from the FOB?
If Slate goes down the subscription income model, I am out.
Thanks for the reply. What you’re saying is what I understand it to be.
Seeing all the posts on here with people who want to add a car stereo unit with a CarPlay screen or add a CarPlay dedicated screen is what made me ask the question.
Why add that to the slate?
Help me understand CarPlay. I’ve never owned a car with an infotainment screen. From the cars I’ve been in and what I’ve read it looks like CarPlay is a patch to be able to get a phone to interface with the vehicles infotainment system.
Where there is no infotainment system in the slate, and...
I never said I would be installing anything. I don’t want auto steering and I don’t want the truck junked up with all that stuff or pre wired or pre programmed or —————.
Leave it be simple. Leave some channels and routing for people who want to wire stuff up. I may want a dash camera, maybe a...
Wireless charging is completely unneeded. The universal phone mount that comes in the slate includes a usb charging port at the bottom. No extra cable no wireless charging loss and heat gain.
Conduit, molded channel, or just space within the removable interior and exterior panels to DIY wiring, cables. No pre-wiring needed.
Modern cars do not leave room inside the panels or make them removable to be able to add wiring in for any accessories. Slate could really differentiate...
A sunroof or removable panel could be installed. The metal frame structure is open above the cab. A third-party sunroof manufacturer already posted on here that they’re in contact with Slate and are planning to offer such.
I get it in that the Maverick is the only “similar” sized pickup in the us market but there are so many differences that it is far from apples to apples comparison.
