Slate is supposed to be customizable... it's okay if you're scared of the tech, you don't need to get it. If the customization ends at "adding a wrap".... not much of a business model
And again- not even asking for the tech to be an option from Slate. Just asking for support for 3rd party
All new cars drive "okay". I expect it to be slow, clunky and have an overall very low-level finish to it. I do not imagine they could miss my expectations.
That being said, my biggest hold-up is price. SUV, Extended Range and a Wrap, are a bare minimum for me. That being said... if pricing on...
your last point is key. Yes, consumers (myself included) complain about car tech being dated, clunky, etc. but consumer electronics are not a substitute for industrial electronics.
I’m sure this legal barrier cannot be that serious, considering this product is already available to consumers….
And also fits the BYOD model you reference
Seems to benefit Slate... as long as you have your reservation in!!

These companies have years of sales data to run off of. For sure could they be complacent. But it is much easier for an established company to use internal data and run a trial.
As for the bezos claim, he surely is. But I think his name is carrying more weight than it is worth. His investments...
For sure. Something is worth what people will pay!
I personally get caught up in the eternal battle, knowing I’ll likely need to spend thousands of dollars to make this car “mine”. Impossible to speculate on value until we get pricing for mods too :)
A phrase I see here a lot is “Slate did their research”. But I think it is silly to think Slate somehow did more research than our current automobile market.
A point doug makes that does resonate is about price vs value.
The price point is attractive, undoubtedly. But stripping down a car past what is “accepted”, and selling it at this price point does not offer value to a lot of consumers.
Has anyone ever used a bluetooth speaker as their car speaker? It's cool... when your speaker breaks. But it sounds horrible and is NOT a permanent solution
