If it was a liability for the manufacturer- I would expect lawsuits directly blaming the manufacturer and ruling against them. Why don’t those exist?

Again, the liability is on the driver, and they have (proclaimed) to rack up 90m+ miles. It is currently supported on over 300 vehicles. It is a non-manufacture supported modification, like any other modification.

Nobody is asking for them to come with Slate. Just the option to be compatible after market. No different than asking for the engine block to be able to be worked on, rather than sealed and locked from the consumer.

I think the thing that makes the most sense is a full sized 4 door pickup, convertible to a SUV like the current. Same thing, just blown up. Better battery range (300+ mi), AWD/4x4, etc. Unfortunately the current market is getting very competitive for that. I think Slate will struggle to...

I’d agree to an extent- nobody in the Midwest needs AWD/4x4. Driving mountains is a different beast. I grew up in WI but spend my winters up and down the Sierras now. Personally I want a 4wd option to avoid ridiculous chain control laws. That being said. I feel much better in a Subaru than I do...

Your 200 hp requirement is completely arbitrary and certainly seems to be intentionally exclusionary to the 191hp maverick engine. To answer your question. Maverick Lobo or Tremor with the ecoboost. 238 hp. Or a Jeep Compass Sport. 26k

Where in the Midwest? RWD is objectively the worst for snow. RWD pickups are the worst you can imagine. Yes the car will have more weight than a traditional ICE over drive tires, but still not ideal. Good all-season (or snow, if you want to get crazy) tires and some practice will make a world...

For sure. Battery tech as a whole is improving! Li-Ion has dropped ~75% in $/KwH over the last 10 years. This is just the beginning.

AWD is so easy to add to an EV- much more than ICE. I'm chalking it up as my Slate 2.0 Wishlist. Optional AWD, 300+ mi range, 4 doors. Compete directly with Blazer EV, Model Y, etc.

"Their marketing campaign is really resonating with the younger generation"- I hate to say it, but this ad is not. I'm what (I think) should be the target market among the younger generation. Late 20s, solid stable job, but cost-conscious, EV-curious, etc. Anyone under ~30 sees right through...

And it’s a shame, because scout is the coolest car coming in the next few years -(in my opinion) - EV or ICE. Hopefully Slate applies some downward pressure to the market corrects that a bit :)

The nomenclature is goofy. Lithium batteries also can refer to primaries (non rechargeable). Lithium-ion is the “proper” term for rechargeable EV batteries, but often gets substituted. NMC/LFP is referring to the cathode material.
