Over promise and under deliver. That seems to be every auto makers moto. Elon is no better than the rest of them.
Bad thing is that Slate has roots in Detroit so hopefully this culture is not already inbred into them.
They might actually surprise us and produce what they say they are going...
One of the Slate videos shows a Slate being wrapped simultaneously with multiple wraps including a mirror finish, gold mirror gloss, and many others, none of which are on the Slate site. Will be interesting to see how this progresses
When they are close to production you will probably be contacted and asked to finalize your build and place your order. At that time you will most likely have to pay a larger deposit which may not be refundable based on your build. Just like custom ordering a vehicle from any brand.
By then...
Has Slate mentioned anywhere what brand of vinyl wrap(s) are going to be available?
3M 2080 Series is a top tier wrap that comes in a multitude of options like Metallic, Carbon Fiber, Chrome Color Tints, Pearlescent, High Gloss, etc...
Since 3M is a leader in vinyl wrap materials I'm hoping...
Agree. I'm an Elio victim and this truck is eerly identical from the exact same forum platform, repurposed factory, tour dates, media hype, etc... The only thing missing is a picture of the Elio. I hope Paul Elio is not secretly working for Slate
I think Slate deliberately coded the reservation numbers like that on purpose so no one really knows where they are. That way they can schedule deliveries based on things like geographic location versus when you reserved. We will probably never know and they will probably never tell us
It will probably happen like some manufacturers in the US. I remember BMW had that option years ago but not sure if they still do.
Not sure if I would want to road trip across country with my first EV. Range anxiety and charging location anxiety could ruin the trip for me
I found the silver lining for when they cancel the $7,500 tax credit.
The credit is based on a majority of the vehicle being sourced in the US. LFP batteries are far less expensive and better overall but mostly come from China and therefore do not qualify. If the tax credit goes away then...
I think for many the decision will be based on price. Slate's self proclaimed target audience is people making less than $100k per year. If you do not have that much disposal income then cost will outweigh want. The small to midsize SUV has pretty much become the national standard and the...
That's probably true. But did you know the cost of that replacement battery may very well be two times more than what your Slate will be worth?
There's a video out there of this guy strapping Dynamite to his Tesla and blowing it up in a quarry for just this reason
If this happens it could very well be a death sentence for Slate. Now you're at close to $30k after taxes and fees.
Maverick starts at $28k and it's battery lasts longer. Oh wait ....
Also, if Slate was banking on this incentive to always be there then they have already set themselves up for...
There is Tons of information on Google and YouTube on how to care for an MNC battery which is what the Slate will have. Took me about 2 days worth of YouTube before I said WTF to Slates decision to go with an MNC battery.
It will last you at least 10 years or so but don't get your hopes up for...
There lies the problem. It WILL last 8-10 years but probably not much more for the average driver. Mine mathematically should last me 38+ years because I will probably only charge it, the large battery, once a week if that because I only use my truck about 4k miles per year. But for the...
Well after educating myself on EV batteries the old measurement of miles isn't the deciding factor, charging is.
The Slate battery should be good for 2000 charges if managed properly. Only charging to 80% goes a long way in preserving an EV battery and letting it discharge as much as possible...
Another reason demand will be high is because many people "need" a truck, it's not an option. I live in a rural area and we have to haul our trash to a trash collection facility. I'll be damned if I do that with my luxury SUV. I use my truck less than 4k miles per year so this truck will...
