Actually the larger battery and extra weight will help keep it grounded, improves center of gravity, improves handling and provides for a smoother ride. Smooth ride is directly related to weight, that's why nothing beats the ride of an old Cadillac. Our XC60 is much heavier than our Forester...
I remember when I learned how to drive that one of the requirements was to adjust the mirrors before you put it in drive. Has something changed that requires you to adjust them while driving?
Power windows - That's just lazy.
I like watching all these people try to build a mini Cybertruck
I'm the guy just a month ago swore I would never drive an EV. The moment I saw the Slate about a week after it was released I thought of my 3 previous small 2 door Toyota trucks and couldn't get to my credit card fast enough to put down my deposit.
Now I'm picking out a spot on my garage...
He has no idea what he is talking about. His child safety seat and everything he knows centers around 4 doors. I'll wait for his YouTube video a few years from now when he admits how clueless he was about the 2 door Slate
Never had an EV and even swore I never would but here I am. How much maintenance could there possibly be with an EV? Do you have to change the transmission fluid? Other than putting air in the tires I can't see any
So I hear. I understand the added state and federal taxes on EV's since they don't pay the gas tax which is supposed to maintain the roads. Lots of things to factor in. Not sure how the $7500 credit will work out but if that goes away I can see this becoming a $30k truck. Turning it into an...
I also think the Slate will not be able to keep up with production when (not if) they start exporting. This could actually become popular in Asia and Europe where small vehicles are already the norm. Open source parts and accessories will be a big incentive for importors to import them and...
Walmart has an aggressive plan to have EV chargers installed at most of Walmart and Sam's locations by 2030. They say that 90% of the population lives within 10 miles of a Walmart. This will go a long way in legitimizing EV's for the general population.
For me I would not even consider an EV if I couldn't charge it at home. It would be such a PITA if I had to rely on public charging that any savings wouldn't even matter. I would gladly pay 4 times more for an ICE that I could fill up ANYWHERE in around 2 minutes compared to finding a charger...
I think everyone is underestimating the demand there will be once this is released. Every small truck you mentioned is or will be incredibly more expensive than the Slate. Trucks are so expensive that they need 4 doors because it has to be the family vehicle at that price.
Slate will be the...
Obviously. Well they said this wasn't going to be for everyone. For those who like all the gadgets, buttons, tech, screens, self driving, 12 speaker stereos, etc.... Elon has a truck for you
I'm watching a YouTube video that came out 2 days ago from AutoBuzz that claims that the electric motor power train (3 in 1) will be produced by JJE Technologies which is a Chinese company with manufacturing facilities in the US ???
From what I was able to find out, they supply EV motors to...
I'm sure when we get close we'll be contacted to finalize and option our Slates. Battery technology will probably improve in the next 18 months so I hope they wait to finalize that.
I'm waiting to see who manufactures the motor. I think they're only 2 US manufacturers for motors. Hopefully...
I know some people who go to SEMA for the Auto Detailing aspect of it. Every major detailing supplier is there. If you get to go don't overlook this aspect of it. I watch numerous SEMA YouTube videos on product launches. Good stuff
