Back in the day I also had a slide out removable AM/FM cassette deck. I think it was made by Audiovox. The one time I forgot to remove it, it was stolen overnight. The thieves broke the vent window to gain access. My fond memories in the borough of Queens!
I don’t disagree with you but it’s impossible to simulate the unique combination of circumstances that lead to failures. In many respects, we as early adopters, the “end users” will undoubtedly reveal design flaws in the Slate. Same as Microsoft, Apple, and well established automakers...
You are raising an excellent point on real world conditions that have yet to be revealed until Slate makes its debut. The operating temperature range on most iPhones and iPads is 32-95F and performance outside that range becomes highly unstable to non usable. I’ve received high temperature...
According to the latest Edmunds Used Car Report, the average transaction price for a 3-year-old used vehicle has reached $30,522. That’s up 2.3% from the same time last year and marks the first time since mid-2023 that this number has climbed back over the $30,000 mark.
If the current trend...
Outstanding video and thanks for sharing on this platform. Social media will always have some negative influence, but I think I speak for everyone on this forum that we want to see Slate succeed on its mission. Looking forward to more of Everything Slate.
Did anyone notice that Eric (head of Slate engineering) was wearing a “magma“ accent belt? This could perhaps develop into a fashion trend and available as Slate merchandise.
I have to agree that video is a bit lame. And if you opt for the storage console you’re going to need to check those bags in the frunk. Generally I hate clutter in between the seats, and in an accident they become projectiles. A bench seat would be a better use of that space.
For those of us considering financing instead of paying cash for your new Slate, here is another incentive currently included in the big, beautiful bill...
"Provide deduction of up to $10,000 for loan interest on new vehicles that undergo final assembly in the U.S. For tax years 2025-2028."...
Agreed , sealing and waterproofing is on my list of concerns, especially with the SUV topper. But properly securing cargo is paramount in ensuring the integrity of the partition.
Another key takeaway from this video is, “don’t let anyone borrow your car or truck. Ever.”
Here’s another interior view at the exhibit. The driver’s seat cloth isn’t holding up very well. I know these betas take a lot of abuse but so do daily drivers.
Some good news, seat assembly is now under Slate’s control and they should remedy this issue before production.
Well said, I can recall over the years I traded in perfectly fine cars simply because I became bored with them. Slate promises a fresh, new driving experience like open air, SUV, or pickup in an afternoon spent in your garage. And nothing feels more like a new car than a new color wrap.

Got mine today, it's a nice print. Letterpress by the feel of it. I wonder if Slate had a local Detroit or Long Beach letterpress shop produce these?
I was also impressed with the quality of the print job. And today I received an unsolicited phone...
I think you guys nailed it. While it may disappoint in some areas, overall I think it’s a pleasant driving experience. Can’t wait to drive one and experience it first hand.
Based on what we know so far, what do we predict about the overall ride quality for the base truck.
Road noise?
Overall ride, smooth or choppy?
Wind noise?
Sporty feel?
Maneuverability?
Visibility?
Handling?
Overall comfort?
Uncomfortable back seat? Let see…. Rear Windows don’t open. No rear HVAC vents. Need to squeeze through front passenger seat to enter and exit. Indeed!
The best video I’ve seen so far. A candid insider’s view of what to expect. As I see it, the key takeaway is why haven’t other, more established auto makers come up with this concept? Perhaps a startup is destined to succeed, as they don’t have to unlearn the bad habits developed over the...
Do we really believe Slate is going to cash in on future upgrades for years to come? Didn’t they say, and even encourage enterprising 3rd party suppliers to provide aftermarket equipment and parts? STL files and open sourcing should be readily available to flood the market with Slate add ons...
