1 pedal drive question.

Another note is the 1st time I drove on packed snow/ice I let up all the way and the tires slowed faster than the car and It started driving diagonal towards the ditch. Little more throttle fixed it.
This is what worries me about no toggle. I rarely use the engine brake on my 40-ton vehicle when it the roads are icy, because of how it can cause the tires to break traction.

I would think that applieng the trailer brake would be more like one pedal drive. Your drive axles being at the front of the load makes the jake brake the opposite reaction. I'm assuming your 40 ton vehicle is a tractor trailer.

Slate does have traction control. The engineers may have thought about this.

Please believe me, 007, I'm not just being argumentative when I say that Traction Control (TC) is not the answer to the problem. I'll wager a doughnut that SquirrelPickles' vehicle, which reportedly broke traction and headed for the ditch when the force applied by the Regenerative Braking (RB) exceeded the ÎĽ of the tire-to-ice, had TC. It has been mandatory on U.S. vehicles for going on 15 years, and yet spinouts are still common occurrences during winter weather events. At least where I live. Maybe the winter drivers in your area are more adroit. *shrug*

There are things we can do to help maintain winter traction; reduce speed, accelerate gradually, decelerate gradually, reduce speed, brake before your turn, keep your engine RPMs below your power band, employ winter tires, reduce your FN speed already, turn off your engine brake and/or exhaust retard, and I suspect turn off RB*. But I don't know about the last one. I have not yet driven an EV, yet hundreds of thousands of winter miles driven inform my instinct to avoid RB on snowpack, ice, and during sub-zero temperatures.

That instinct could be wrong. I'm not too proud to learn new, improved habits. I'll learn what I can from those of you that have 1PD'd in the winter. Learning from your experiences might be cheaper than learning from my own.

My issue with traction control is it cuts all power. In an ideal world, when rear grip is lost, you maintain wheel speed roughly equal to your vehicle speed. Otherwise you exceed the slip angle of the tire and fall off the grip cliff.

I (used to) do a lot of dumb shit, and traction control kicking in has caused my car to snap oversteer in the other direction. I’d rather just drive through the slide. Granted, I’ve been driving racecars a while.

Speaking of that, Traction control in racecars is much better as it spark/fuel cuts and maintains a better slip ratio instead of fully cutting power. . This would be easier to implement on an EV.
