Updated with factory delivery news:

"A room formerly used in the printing process is filled with locals, elected officials, and journalists. The plan is to use this room in the future as a customer center and potentially a delivery location. The company is toying with the idea of allowing customers to take delivery of their pickups at the factory. No word on whether that would eliminate the delivery fee."

There's some interesting info in there about potentially doing customer pick-up at the plant! That seems new to me, but I might have missed that elsewhere

If I’m flying all the way to Indiana and then driving all the way back to my home state I would hope that would eliminate most if not all of the delivery fee lol. Would be cool to have an option to schedule a tour of the factory if possible.

About 3 hours for me. That's a motorcycle ride. The problem is how do I get the motorcycle home afterwards. Uhaul trailer, probably.

Chevrolet charges the regular delivery charge of $1,395 plus a Museum Delivery charge of $1,495, bringing the total to $2,890 for Corvette delivery in Bowling Green.

Museum delivery includes a tour of the assembly plant, a VIP museum tour, and various commemorative items.

I doubt they could get away with that on a low cost vehicle like this. That'd be like charging a delivery & a "museum fee" for the opportunity to pick up a Corolla lol.

I'm smitten with this truck, but if they decide to do shipping regardless, that's just dumb as hell lol. Corvette owners are a weird breed. I know, I'm one of them

The factory's 15 hours away from me. However, I've helped my way-more-die-hard-car-guy friends enough with random projects they've given me full use of their Ram and fifth-wheel. Would be a fun road trip to drive up, pick it up, and take it back. Probably undo all of my delivery fee savings in diesel though!

Understood. I was mainly pointing out that Factory Delivery doesn't eliminate the delivery charge.

Don't expect them to work for free.

Factory delivery would be far more appealing with a factory-site modification shop. You take delivery of your Slate already modified at the factory the way you want it.
Agree. Otherwise why not just sign up for a factory tour anytime after production begins? Yours would be one of many thousand anonymous storm troopers (blank slate).

A factory delivery option would actually sway me towards Slate even more despite the anemic battery offering in base trim.
