Well yes. I was thinking about trucks that weren’t lifted, lowered, had AT tires, spares, or anything modified at all. Won’t those basic mods happen at factory? I understand the rest of mods could happen 3rd party. I might misunderstand the MO some.
Every Slate truck will be built in a single Blank Slate configuration with either the standard or extended-range battery.

All accessories will be shipped separately.

So if you wanted a lift, AT tires, etc, they are going to ship additional tires to PayPal (jk)? Did I miss the thread on what happens to stock wheels/tires?

I am curious, do we think reservation to order will be at the same time (Q6) or around tax time this year. from a strategic standpoint it would be some what advantages to do it at tax time kinda like a pre-order for games or merchandise. I mean I know the reservations kinda work like that but a refundable $50 is not a true commitment I feel it’s more like a “I’m interested”, but if they go with the Q4 it’s still easy to do I just feel they will get a huge amount of purchases at once res and non-res holders vs a huge amount of res holders now then slow uptick over the following months from non res holders I’m just curious how they will handle it and the process of it this is my first car i will have bought myself in my name

Tax time this year would be really early to be converting reservations to orders, the earliest I can see that happening would be in the summer, if at that point they have test driveable units out at events, and deliveries are on track for early Q4, then they may start offering for people to convert and see how many really want to commit.

One thing that may now affect the timeline at least for buyers, in California anyway, and it has been said they have significant interest here, is the plan to bring some kind of state incentives back that has just been announced. No details on what those incentives would be, probably won't be details until May when a budget proposal goes to the legislature, but my guess is it might not go into effect until January 2027, which might mean a lot of reservation holders end up holding and not converting until then.

I’m thinking converting reservation to orders might depend on external suppliers, 90 days?

What do you think the “26.2” Slatelets mean? I use to think they were planning on getting production started in the 2nd quarter of 2026, work out all the bugs of the assembly line, and possibly make some changes to the final design.
26.2 is a marathon race, 26.2 miles.

Actually I am thinking 2-3 weeks for the following steps to complete before the Slate shows up in your driveway. Here is how I envision how the ordering process will go.*

Slate will send you an email based on your reservation date and region;
Congratulations, it‘s time to order your Slate! In the email, you receive the final purchase order, VIN number, vehicle selling price w options, sales tax information, freight and delivery costs, and the Ts and Cs. You will then be asked to upload:

1. Your drivers license
2. Your proof of insurance
3. Your bank routing and account numbers if paying cash **
4. Your approved Slate or private loan paperwork if financing **
5. Your state DMV paperwork to register and title your Slate
6. Electronic signatures using docu-sign

* Tesla direct sales model (I’ve done it a few times)
** payment including freight must be paid in full.

Once all docs are sent electronically, approved and accepted by all parties, Slate will send you a detailed message of how /where to pickup the vehicle at the regional delivery partner. If you paid the additional fees, it will be shipped to your home address.

Hope this helps…
