Count me in on getting FRONT BENCH SEATS as a standard for the Slate. The truck is small and currently good for only 2 people (with the Truck Option). What would it take to add the safety requirments for a 3rd seatbelt and airback in front.

Adding a bench seat greatly increases utility of the truck to carry 3 people (a crew) with the truck bed….

If not standard, perhaps at least an option.

This week's Autoline After Hours guest speaker explained why a front bench seat costs an insane amount of time, money and effort to engineer - and results in compromised utility. And I think he probably knows what he's talking about, because he's from the world's premier seat company.

This is a great episode by the way. Really interesting guy.

Things that car guys always scream bloody murder about and nobody actually buys...

  • bench seats
  • manual transmissions
  • two door trucks
  • station wagons
  • vehicles without all the fancy gadgets

You forgot small hatchbacks that no one ever buys except when they're available, and then they're wildly popular.

(I agree that in the modern world, manual transmissions are mostly just for the weird nerds [me])
