Indeed! L.A. (lower Alabama for the non-locals) does get hot! That will be a nice feature. South bama gets spicy also.

If so, that's arbitrary and deliberate.
Preconditioning could be initialized any way Slate wants it to be.
Button on the remote.Flash the high beams while parked.Spell S-L-A-T-E in Morse code on the break pedal.Anything.
It's programmable. An event happens and preconditioning starts.
Requiring the app would be deliberate crippling designed to nudge the user into running the app.
Maybe have the horn do a short-beep when preconditioning enables and double-short-beep when it disables. The problem I see with that keyfob pictured tho, is that unknown button is for autostart, unsure if its 2-way - I want to be able to see if its started or not, not blindly press the button and *hope* it worked.
Yeah not for me The whole point of the two-way is so that I can tell if it started when I'm far away or can't easily see the vehicle. For example when I was a university student I would hit the auto start and then walk to the lower parking lot which would take about 10 to 15 minutes but by the time I got there my car would be all warmed up. Every morning when my alarm went off I would hit the auto start before I got up and got dressed so it would be all warmed up when I went outside ready to leave. I'm sure the same kind of thing applies in hot climates where you might hit the auto start when you're in the middle of a mall before walking outside to a hot car in Arizona or whatever. With two-way you can see if it doesn't start and then try again when you're a little closer or try getting a little more elevation or holding the fob against your throat, etc.Maybe have the horn do a short-beep when preconditioning enables and double-short-beep when it disables.
For my purposes I think that would be adequate.
