You might get a free "turbo option" with the dual motor, larger battery, just because in BEVs, when you add battery and motors they always get faster. That's a WAG - I don't have a clue. I'm certainly hoping the zero to sixty times they quoted are for the single motor, small battery. Because if it's slower than that, you'll need to put on your emergency blinkers when you merge on the interstate.

And there is the other problem. I'm not sure if a Telo is ever going to be built. The Slate? My guess (and it's only a WAG, as you say,) is that Bezos wants some in-town delivery vehicles that are EV-only, cheap to purchase and operate, and puts money back in his pocket. His mission for the last 20 years (or more) is to turn Amazon into a logistics company. Because he knows his history - the first mega-rich weren't the folks who invented something - it was the folks that got people and materials somewhere.

But, it's a guess. And I'd love the acceleration to get the 0-60 into the 5-6 second range. That would be super. And the dial needs to go to 11.

I'm wondering given that it's a RWD pickup if it'll smoke tires even with the current power configuration. I know the batteries give it a better weight distribution but I'd love make some noise when I hammer it every once in a while!

As we found in that thread, many vehicles current and past have had 8 second or longer zero to 60 times. It may be less of an issue than an ICE vehicle would be with the same time, due to the torque differences and no shifting.

Somebody at Tesla heard you. The volume settings on the audio system actually go to 11. However, there are only 3 settings on acceleration. That would be Chill, Sport, and Insane. Or “Plaid” if you get the quad motor setup.

Don't need a turbo button but a Sport Mode would be nice for more spirited driving. If Slate becomes a big enough hit would be cool to see a Performance Muscle Truck version one day as well.

I was going to half-jokingly raise the point that the "turbo button" was actually supposed to slow down the computer, but I decided to check Wikipedia to make sure, and...turns out, that's a myth/misunderstanding. The turbo mode is indeed meant to make the computer run faster.

So, I learned something today, thanks.

I also think it's funny when things are labeled "turbo" when they do not, in any way, involve a "turbine". It went from cars to various non-car things as a way to say "fast", and this would bring it full circle back to cars!

I imagine a lot of retro computing references would work really well with the Slate, with the boxy shapes and the "simple technology" themes it represents.

Telo seems nice, I don't think there's reason to be hostile with another independent small EV truck that's clearly trying to be something different than Slate. We're on the same side, and not really competing! I recall hearing that the Telo people were friendly with Slate as well.

I do personally dislike the emphasis on 0-60 in EVs. My understanding is that the main "performance" issue is usually acceleration dropping-off toward the top, but I don't know if that's current (no pun intended).

For extreme 0-60s, I just think it needlessly constrains the choice of tires/wheels on vehicles that already tend to be heavy, and where rolling resistance is especially relevant; while not being especially relevant to making an EV feel fun to drive. But that's an internet opinion, not an experience-based one.
