Slate at Idyllic Coffee
Grab a coffee, chat with the team, and see the truck up close | 8am-11am | 1219 S Santa Fe Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90021

Given that it's a weekday morning, 3 hour event, that you've got to go through heavy traffic to get there, and I've seen no one even mention that they would go, I thought I'd ask if anyone here at all will go?
What are the reasons not if you aren't?
For me it's all 3.
Time, Day, and location that are keeping me out.
I'm working through that time,
It would take 1h20-2h10 to get there from home, I'll actually be working about 40 minutes from there, but carpooling, and will be working from early morning into the afternoon. I have to figure on a Friday morning 90% or more of us wouldn't be able to go due to work. It seems maybe it's an event mostly for people who happen to be at that coffee shop anyway that morning? does it get a lot of traffic in that 3 hours that would be potential customers?

Yeah ngl, that combo kills it for me too. Morning, Friday, downtown-ish LA… idk who that’s actually for besides people already nearby grabbing coffee.

I think this event is more small time and they want people to go to the Texas event more

It's not like anyone is going to look at the two events and be deciding which to go to. They are halfway across the country from each other. It seems like the more recent west coast events are being done this way though, half a day, somewhere where you have to drive through HEAVY traffic to get to, and on a workday, while other events are up to 3 days long, all day, and probably easier to get to.

I am waiting for a Slate event in NorCal or central valley. SoCal is quite far. I don't mind the long drive to visit certain destinations (Calico Ghost Town, Mojave Desert, Salton Sea Lake...) because they won't come to me. 😁

Wonder how it went this morning.

They did have a couple of bay area events I think, and one in Sacramento? I am hoping that in Spring/summer they really ramp up the events, start having them at least every weekend, and start spreading them out. Just for Socal, they have been Orange county, South from LA, and I think there was at least one in the San Diego area, and they seem to stick to the same areas.
Start putting lots of the events at least 30 miles from previous events, maybe more.
I kind of want to wait until they have production accurate vehicles to see, and it seems like recent ones have been more hands off, where previously people were allowed to sit in them, now it may be more look at it from 3 feet away behind a rope.

I too can wait. Behind the rope from 3 feet away is ok if I don't have to drive far. 😅 I will email them about a couple of cars/coffee events in my area. The last time I went to one was in 2023.

I emailed them info about the cars & coffee in Menlo Park that I used to attend. Don't know any place in the central valley though I visit every weekend. Maybe the Harris Ranch?

looks like they added a couple of events in Los Angeles and Long Beach for April
And a couple more Fleet events - Cleveland (April) and Las Vegas (May). I'm not going to any of these, but I hope someone on the boards will attend and get some more answers to community questions.

Another AM event, 9-12, only 3 hours, at least it's not downtown and south, but do they think none of us work?

The second one is in Long Beach, 6pm-9pm, during the long beach grand prix. Google says street parking is heavily metered, there are parking structures around. The lot at that address is gated and small, and probably will be reserved for the event.
I don't know how traffic and parking is during the race, probably bad.
It is nearly 2 hours for me to drive there, so won't be doing that anyway.

I keep hoping to see a multi-day event come up, preferably farther north, but these weekday and 3 hour ones seem to be all that happens

I'm betting things will ramp up after June in advertisement and showings because it seems info at least REAL NEW info hasn't been told yet so for a marketing point it would be wise to ramp up before delivery's later this year or so

Contact them about it. I did for an event in the fall, and it turned out that people wouldn't have to pay for parking. No idea if the SoCal events would also include free parking, of course.
