AWD only became common recently, I haven't driven a vehicle with it, I doubt I'll miss it. Rarely snows here. Maybe for some areas where AWD is basically standard, like when we've visited family in Missoula, basically all the rentals were AWD subarus, and that was a big part of what you saw on the streets, but for a lot of the country it's not needed, and even somewhere like that, put on some snow tires and maybe put some sandbags in the bed.
You are not wrong….but we snowflakes that live in GA have AWD on everything! Because, you know, precipitation might happen and AWD obviously eliminates the need to know how to drive!

Missoula I can understand, because a major part of the year they may have snow/ice on the roads, but for rain... who needs AWD?

It’s a joke about southerners…tongue firmly in cheek.

I don't know, it seems like there is a vocal group here who think most people need AWD
It's also a performance thing....AWD and bigger battery...take off faster. Like, much faster. (Merge in ATL traffic a few times and know this to be a thing.)

Ahhhh, the Perimeter, something else I don’t miss.
2005 was a long time ago. The Perimeter was polite then. Not the bloodsport it is today (just towed a trailer around the Perimeter on Saturday - not fun).
