On the subject of tax refunds, I also believe that a big refund is "doing it wrong", but I'd rather do it wrong than guess wrong and have to come up with another grand on a moment's notice to cover the IRS. Besides, bonuses since 2020 have been extremely variable (and yes, they're reported and taxed appropriately.)

I've added $600/mo. to my savings goals for the Slate, and I've slashed entertainment budgets by 90% or so. I'll adjust as I get closer to the purchase order and goal.
