Amateur Radio Fans:

Appears that Slate's open dash panel design may be ideally suitable for mounting a mini–Amateur Radio or GMRS mobile rig. This location would be superior to cup holder mounts or under dash brackets. The flip open panel will keep the unit visible and neatly hidden from view when closed. Even with optional speakers, it appears that there is ample room for a GMRS rig or equivalent. It's likely that Slate is already working behind the scenes to add this radio tech option along with antenna mounting options.

Definitely looking forward to this!

Love that idea!

I'm a ham - over 45 years licensed since 1980.

BTW, trying to renew my license on line is a PAIN.

I just installed a 2m / Aviation dual band HT w/ Compactenna LMR mag mount on my EV.
Also have a 70cm mobile with 1/4 wave mag mount.

The antennas were a pain as there is not enough metal for a decent ground plane.

New student pilot adding VHF AM (simplex only) is a new concept for me being used to crisp clear FM.

Hoping the FAA will revamp the ancient AM radio comms to more current digital or satellite comms.

Not sure, but in this view, it appears the hidden dash panel has a 12V power car plug for ham radios, dashcams, and radar detectors. USB ports would also be nice!
