Well KY sure isn’t one of those.

It seems easy enough to do an odometer reading to allow for true use case. But what do I know?

Currently, EV owners in Washington pay an annual registration fee of $225, which includes a $150 fee intended to offset the gas tax that EV drivers don’t pay. No mileage tracking yet although a Road Usage Charge is being considered to replace the gas tax and EV fee.

How would that compare and workout as it relates to the gas taxes in TX?

In Texas, the state plus federal gas taxes are about 42 cents, if I remember correctly .

It would only track the miles you drive, not where you are.

If I knew that a road usage fee was only being used for road and bridge maintenance, I'd be happy to pay it...especially if it was tax deductible and I knew that everyone else who drives legally in the state of Washington also pays it. One revenue source that will be lost is people from out of state using Washington roads and buying Washington gas. Policing this could have some logistical challenges, but I don't think privacy concerns should be one of them. We already have cameras that track usage of certain highway lanes.

California gas prices being near $6/gallon - I am sure driving cheap on EV.

Even using Tesla Superchargers during peak times.
