Ambulance is spelled in reverse for your rear view mirror. Your camera shouldn’t be on unless you’re going down the highway backwards.

I'm not too worried about the quality or resolution. The truck is small enough with clear body lines that backing up should be a non issue, especially coming from a Z71 Silverado with a canopy. Backup cameras, while nice, are a tool and not a crutch imo.
You're right Slate should be easy enough to use the old fashioned way and the back up camera will be a helpful tool for the blindspot from the bed. But that doesn't change the fact that if it's cheap and small reviewers are not going to be kind to it.

Slate has a tough job with the Blank Slate since it has a spartan minimalist interior car reviewers are going to focus on the smallest things since those are the only things to talk about. So everything in the interior needs to be economical quality not feeling old or out of date. From pictures it seems like they are doing a good job of that so far with materials. But the stretch goals are going to be things like road noise in the cabin especially with no radio. People will give leeway for cheaper materials but the build quality when it needs to be put together will be needed to a high standard especially with a Blank Slate being seen as a perfect fleet vehicle. In a review where things like that are being focused on, the back up camera being low quality and small might be something that review touches on for a whole minute or two which could stick in a potential buyers head.
