Production Date Poll: When will Slate Truck production begin?

Slate Auto says Blank Slate Trucks will start rolling off the assembly line "Late Next Year".

When do you think production will begin?

In order for Slate to claim it met its delivery goal, they MUST deliver at least the first few vehicles in late 2026. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't want the first vehicle off the line. So technically production 'begins' late next year, although most would call it limited rate initial production or LRIP.

Beyond that it will take at least 8-10 months to ramp up anything close to 150K units per year since additional tooling is required along with the associated lead times. I think it's a safe bet that Slate will be in full rate production in early 2028. Early reservation holders like us, who are in the first wave of the 100K, will likely have a Slate in the driveway in the fall of 2027.

I know there has been reference to 4th qtr 2026, but I’d really like to see earlier, limited production to help work the kinks out. Can I sign up to be a early production tester?. Vinyl applique on doors, some business cards to hand out, internet link that reports back…

In some respects, we will ALL become beta testers the day we take delivery. I think I'm fine with that since this isn't my only vehicle. Even Slate sees its target audience as the second vehicle in the household. But until the whole 'service center thing' rolls out, I remain skeptical that issues will be remedied in a timely manner. Assuming the fix is beyond the limits of an OTA update.

I believe it will start this year depending on the equipment deliver time at least December because we know the slate factory renovation last are said to be done this October so two months depending on when they are done in October. Could be 3 if it’s October first and they could start hiring now for future jobs on the assembly but all just speculation on my part
