CNBC Video: Can Bezos-Backed Slate Build An Affordable EV Truck In The U.S.?

I think you just nailed it. Just try to imagine driving this thing at 90 mph and hit a large bump, perhaps biased to one side. It will likely pitch, buck and roll like a wild bronco (no pun intended) and may even overturn like the old Suzuki Samurai's :) I think we need to drive this truck...

ARTICLE: You Need Way Less Range Than You Think

Not to disagree but a few thousand extra for the 240 mile range battery is not a waste of money. You might probably spend that on all the dealer add ons / port installed options at a conventional dealership that you don’t need or want. The $3500 is soon forgotten in the first year of...

Will the Slate’s 8 seconds to 60 mph be adequate for safe highway merging?

Anyone coming from a sports / performance vehicle may have to deal with adjustments in driving habits in the Slate. For example, I can envision that merging on the highway with shorter acceleration lanes will present challenges in faster moving traffic, especially when you are used to a faster...

ARTICLE: You Need Way Less Range Than You Think

I don't pay attention to anyone telling me " what I need." Did you ever hear anyone complain; "gee, my house is too big, I have too many closets, too much storage....." Well you get the idea. Why then should we accept a lower range vehicle which restricts your lifestyle? It just makes...

ARTICLE: You Need Way Less Range Than You Think

Nice to see open apologies on the board. Can’t we all just get along? 🙂 Thinking about our refueling behavior with conventional gasoline vehicles; we basically fall into two categories; 1- refueling when your tank is almost on empty 2- topping off when it’s convenient to do so, low...

Using Rear Footwell Space for Spare Tire Storage (Design Ideas)

Love the idea of the ‘zipn hump.’ Now… if somehow that footwell area could be accessed from both sides of the cargo bed… say with hinged doors on both sides…. Could we end up with…. a zipn gear tunnel? 👍🙂

CNBC Video: Can Bezos-Backed Slate Build An Affordable EV Truck In The U.S.?

Another useless 15 minute video of rehashed content. Give us some new material please.

My Slate 3D prints (download) - pickup, SUV, convertible

Only one color, single filament, silky black for my model. Took about 4 hours, trimming was needed inside by the seats and dashboard.

My Slate 3D prints (download) - pickup, SUV, convertible

Well after a few YouTube videos on Orca Slicer I am now in full printing mode! Here are the models I downloaded on Thingiverse. I have already printed the wheels, axles, steering wheel, SUV and blank slate top. Now the full body is in print, I have about 3 1/2 hours to go. Will post pictures...

My Slate 3D prints (download) - pickup, SUV, convertible

For some reason when I try to import the Slate body or wheels .stl files into Orca the dimensions exceed the plate dimensions. Did you scale the files before importing? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Factory Delivery option

True, but the incoming material still needs to be staged somewhere, and not everything comes in on time. Very unlikely it all arrives at the same time as your Slate. But I admire your optimistic viewpoint!

    Factory Delivery option

Regarding deliveries, I think Slate made an excellent decision to incorporate the DTC model. Although less complicated (on paper) than having a network of dealerships, it is not without logistical headaches. Here is the scenario that comes to mind: The yet to be announced "national service...

3 adults fit in second row rear bench seats. Legroom and shoulder room look!

It may be easier to exit the rear seats by pulling yourself up on the roll bar and hoist yourself out 🤣

3 adults fit in second row rear bench seats. Legroom and shoulder room look!

I get it that the middle headrest needs to be low profile for rearward visibility, but that is one wimpy headrest!

    New Information / Updates request

I agree. The "News & Media" section of the Slate.Auto website hasn't been updated since the launch date. I signed up for the latest Slate news via email and I think I got like two emails since April. So they'll just throw us a few crumbs every month to keep us interested. Probably just part...

Which means, assuming all other things being equal, Slate has a strategic advantage over Ford since there is no dealer network.

Ford EV Announcement Aug 11 - livestream registration link

Just watched the livestream. I’m very impressed with what Ford is promising for new technologies like virtual reality, AI, and ergonomic improvements on the assembly line. Although a little late to the party, Ford will be looking to draw customers away from Slate. I think Slate is keenly...

    Leasing Starter Packs

While it’s possible that starter packs can be offered in a lease, I think it’s going to diminsh value when the lease is up. Meaning that it will appeal to a smaller group of buyers. I can envision landscapers, home repair, HVAC, plumbing outfits, etc. ordering a fleet of Slates that have some...

My Slate 3D prints (download) - pickup, SUV, convertible

Nice work! Is that PLA? How long did it take to print? Did you use Bambu, Creality, or Flashforge? Oh… were the door handles somehow reversed in the model? 😬
