New member, new reservation, Cybertruck owner

A Cybertruck and a Slate will definitely be polar opposites in the driveway together!

This is the small truck Tesla should have produced...

I keep seeing the Maverick comparison again and again, and while I get it, it's the only other small truck like it for sale. It is beginning to burn me as it's nowhere near the same 'type' of pickup truck. The Slate isn't trying to BE another Maverick or they would have at least tried to offer a...

    Tesla Supercharging ?

I looked at em up close and they're ChargePoint chargers. I did some digging around and matched it to these https://www.chargepoint.com/businesses/stations/ct4000 I thought they were NACS but I guess not. I'll have to ask the Tesla owner when he comes in next shift if he has used them yet. I see...

Just got this email from Slate: SIGNED. SEALED. DELIVERED?

It'll be nice to see what Slate ends up sending out. I'll even just take a free beer soda koozie or other branded merch that you can get from companies that do that kind of promo stuff. The company-man side of me thinks that this is Slate's chance to gauge how many reservation holders are more...

    Tesla Supercharging ?

My work just installed a fleet of NACS chargers that charge at $.05 kw/hr. The downside is they are very strict on parking and will charge out the ears if you leave your car 'fully charged' for longer than an hour. Which is great for a factory where I can't just get up and leave at random lol I...

    Door panels

That box is indeed a bit obtrusive. I dug around for pictures of the OEM 'addon' power windows they spec'd for Suzuki Sidekicks and the design makes a lot more sense. It still has to go over the OEM hole but they at least kept it rounded: Definitely makes more sense to have it up where the...

    Wrap or no wrap?

I was initially going to wrap it, but the more I look at it the more I think I'll keep it grey for now. Save some $$$. It all comes down to how easy the panels are to remove. I have a friend with a paint booth and I'd love to actually properly paint it (but I know how much of a pain composites...

Air Suspension, Carplay, onboard cooler, double din radio, climate control, wi-fi, hands free liftgate, self driving, waffle maker...

The aftermarket sells a lot of "square" fog lights that I have seen people install into some of the cars in my fleet. If both of the front square panels are removable, I think they'd be a great spot to mount a pair of fogs. That's what I'd do. The only car I've had with fogs were on a Honda Fit...

Air Suspension, Carplay, onboard cooler, double din radio, climate control, wi-fi, hands free liftgate, self driving, waffle maker...

I think that's part of the reason that Slate keeps pushing these new 'builds.' I'm betting a lot of people will skip the full customizer all together and get one of their pre-designed packages and add one or two things to that.* *except the Neon Echo one, I can't imagine someone actually...

Slate is "confident in our plan -- [tax] incentive or not."

I would have never told you two days ago that the bill had a chance to die in the senate and we'd get to keep the EV credit... but after everything going on in the WhiteHouse maybe the bill might die and we'll keep the EV credit hope going for a little while longer if they end up gutting the bill.

Another fun commercial: "We’re bringing back crank windows. Get ready to get strong."

I would love keyed entry proper, but traditional sealed beam headlights would probably not fly as they have a higher halogen power consumption than LED. That being said it's nice when I had a rock crack my headlight a few years ago and O'Relly's sells them for $14 apiece. with THAT being said...

Suspension Poll: Lifted, Lowered, or Standard Height?

Funnily enough I was just looking at Chevy LUVs, P'ups and other older two door pickups trying to see what the Slate could look like with that kind of rear light bar mount: I'd hope with a slanted aero topper it'd look like a pre-runner, But I think with the standard ride height and...

Another fun commercial: "We’re bringing back crank windows. Get ready to get strong."

Edit: I just double checked on my Geo through youtube videos and it's counter-clockwise for going up as well. So it is backwards! If I wasn't at work right now I'd go out and double check LOL

    Slate vs. Telo

I'm 34 and all of my friends are either my age or in their mid 20s and are all into the Slate over the Telo. The big variable, however, is these are all people that are heavily into autocross / engine-swaps / tuning. They all are very used to having to work around 'too much' technology in cars...

    Slate vs. Telo

Forget the instagram influencers, THAT is how you get some engagement with your target market. Would be fun if they had an official one for Slate.

    Slate vs. Telo

I have been seeing people in comment sections talk about how great the Telo looks and how ugly the Slate is, boggles my mind. I'm curious if they have a future owners forum set up like we do, like a parallel universe but everyone hating on the Slate and trying to figure out the Telo.

    Slate vs. Telo

Assuming that little vent hole is actually functional right behind the front wheels that thing is going to be full of rock chips and mud within a few months of ownership. I can already see it flinging rocks up and through it onto the doors.

Poll: Slate's second model - what do you think it will be?

Crazy answer: take the slate, lower it, shrink the wheelbase, put a trunk on it, and give us a Suzuki X-90 equivalent: 😈 Realistically I think they'd probably do the opposite, lengthen it and add two more doors or do a long wheelbase cargo van with a slider door.

Another very optimistic take on Slate from auto expert Sandy Munro

I've been reading about the drum brake thing before, with the improvements in regenerative braking and 'one pedal' driving, some EV fleet testers were finding the front calipers starting to prematurely warp from rust and lack of use. There's been some research into returning to four drum...

Article: Slate's $25,000 Electric Truck Will Be A 'Disruptor'

Exactly, one of the reasons I have a Fit for my significant other, who is NOT a car or driving enthusiast by any means, to use is because it has probably one of the best HVAC layouts of any car I've been in. I am a firm believer that you should be able to be blindfolded and be able to find your...
