Could you make a hybrid with a transverse-mount, front-wheel-drive ICE engine? This guy turned a plug-in BEV Nissan Leaf into a hybrid by adding a superbike engine:

What an absurd [edit: in all the best ways] build. I don't think I dare desecrate my First Shift Slate with anything like that, but once they're available on the used market I think they'll be highly affordable and highly popular for mods.

My son wants to get a used one and do a Tesla motor swap in it. I told him he could have mine when I kick the bucket.

Someone will absolutely do that and make it bounce during the Cinco de Mayo parade. We'd be cheering on! 🤩🤩
I don't think that's intended to be a lowrider with hydraulics... that's more of a carolina squat. Or whatever TF it's called. You slam the rear end to the ground for the absolute worst visibility and driving experience possible and hope you don't kill anyone.

Fun fact. The Carolina squat is illegal in North Carolina. Not sure if it legal with those yahoos to the south. :)

Pretty much illegal everywhere as it does not meet bumper height laws. Being illegal is one thing, being enforced is a different animal. Just like dark headlight covers and dark license plate covers.
