Oh yes this ^^^^.“Yes, but…”
They need to hit their pricing target (or close to it) for me to buy it blind. I’m expecting it to be pretty crude for that money, and I’m ok with that. An increase of say, $5k or more won’t necessarily run me off, but I’ll need to lay hands on it and be suitably impressed first.
My past years of reserving EVs (Ford Lightning, Ford Mach E, GMC Denali EV, Chevy RTS EV) has taught me that initial pricing never really holds water.
GM really dropped the ball when they initially announced $41K Chevy 1EV truck but never came to fruition. Got my reservation refunds 2 years later.
Ford was honest with the initial pricing, but availability was false. Originally wanted the $39K Lightning but when my order time came around, only the higher end Lariat and highest trim Platinum were available. Price paid was $72K.
Second Ford EV was the Mach E which was a 14 month wait, change in paint color due to change in model year, re-ordered 2 times, trashed in a train wreck, and replaced 2 months later - price jumped $4000 and lost the full tax credit (got half).
