Do we know at this point if the rear seats fold down flush with the bed? Or is that still TBD?

From October when we had one come through town, I asked if the seats folded down and the reps said not currently and that was "The kind of feedback they were looking for".

I think for the prototypes at least the seatbacks were bolted in place, although it looked like a standard 60/40 split type seat.

I feel like foldable rear seats are definitely a must have, but with the battery right underneath the bed I doubt they'll fold flat.

I think the seat sits on the surface of the bed, so that kind of limits how much can be stowed whatever the seat design. Even if they used a design like many compact vehicles do where the seat lifts up and forward to tuck into the footwell behind the front seats, then the back lays flat into that space where the seat was, it's still going to be flat, at least a few inches above the bed level.

This is a prototype that doesn’t fold, but it looks like the seat and hinges are above the floor of the bed at the rear. There is a lower foot well in front of the rear seat, but I doubt the seat will fold into it.

Yeah, it would get complicated and add to cost for little gain. If the seat backs do fold down at all, that gets you the length back for some shapes of loads, but I doubt they will get even close to bed height. With a DIY-able install, the seats probably bolt directly to the framework, if there is any motion, just the back.

For one of my purposes (dog park shuttle -- two people in front, dogs in the back) seats folding flat would be an attractive feature.

Even a 4-door sedan works better for that than a Slate SUV would.
