OK, looked to see exactly what they are going for, in the FAQ it isI believe it was 5-star crash safety ratings.
Those can't be added aftermarket.
The Slate is designed to achieve a 5-star USNCAP crash rating and includes features
US NCAP is US New Car Assessment Program done by the NHTSA. They do 3 types of tests, and give stars for each.
They are now showing 4 recommended driver assistance technologies, Forward collision warning, Lane departure warning, Crash imminent Braking, and Dynamic Brake support.
Each car listed has an overall star score, a star score for each test, and whether they have the technologies meeting performance criteria and whether they are standard or optional.
I am not seeing anything about whether the technologies are factored into the overall star ratings, but for every vehicle they are listed right there after the crash ratings.
