Maybe this shouldn’t be a suggestion because it’ll almost certainly never happen, but…

How do you maximize interior and/or bed space with the short overall length? Get rid of that stupid Frunk and put it to use!

A beautiful flat nose slate with a double cab, perfect for the family!

Headed to the beach? Take the top off and let the wind hit your hair!

Don’t need all that extra cab space, but want an 8 ft bed? Rock it OG.

Wishful thinking, I know :)

See now we are getting something that looks a bit like an electric VW T3 Doka. Not a bad idea! Fully enclose it, add a second motor, and you have an electric Syncro.

Actually there is a chance that a small cabover EV pickup could happen, but from Telo rather than Slate.

A Telo is almost 2 feet shorter than a Slate, about the same size as a Mini Cooper. Bed is 5 ft with the crew cab, but there is a configurable mid-partition. With the proper setup, a Telo can apparently haul 4x8 plywood sheets with the tailgate up.

I worry about how that thing will do in a frontal collision. Also I believe “cabover” requires the front wheels to be behind the driver’s legs. Not sure the Telo qualities.

Slate should pay attention to this render, it's actually a very good concept, especially for contractors and needing 4 seats and a bed, while keeping the overall wheelbase the same. Id buy it.

Man, if we had an American EV Kei truck option…I don’t think crash standards or Slates safety goals would allow it, but I’d be down. Maybe their next model could be a cab-forward crew cab with the option to turn into a van/people hauler!

In this world of "wanna be first", it's perfect!!, first at the accident!!. All joking aside, I would think with modern materials today, it could be made just as safe as many other vehicle's out there now. The Cabover has many benefits for load space for work trucks
