I’m still concerned how the installation of wraps will be. I know they are focusing on DIY, but wrapping a whole vehicle is not easy. For this to be the only way to change the color, I hope they found a way to make it easy for the average consumer

I get it. It use to be really hard a few years ago. We have family that runs a shop. It is hard with parts on a car. But from what I think will happen is most parts will come off and can be put on a table and that helps so much. All your cuts will be behind the panel. Also new wrap rolls are way more forgiving and flexible. It can self heal with heat and let air out on its own. But just my thoughts. I can be wrong

what about ease of removing the wrap? From my understanding wraps last 3 years. I’ve seen some sun damaged wraps that looked awful to remove.

Hopefully the wrap kits will be $300-400 at most. Bc this will become a maintenance cost that people are not thinking about.

Yeah that’s also a good point. Surprisingly the wraps are the only accessory that they gave pricing for. The website says starting at $500

How close is the color match for the magma colored front vent accessory, and the side stripe in person? In some photos they don't match, and in some they do. As you can see from my avatar I plan on getting both of those options. Thanks for the pics!!

Here’s another interior view at the exhibit. The driver’s seat cloth isn’t holding up very well. I know these betas take a lot of abuse but so do daily drivers.

Some good news, seat assembly is now under Slate’s control and they should remedy this issue before production.

Yes! Wraps are good longer now with the new UV additives. Like 7 year for good stuff And with a release spray and heat gun the new stuff comes off easier. The bad removals come from older wraps that were done 5 years ago with old tech and have not been taken care of.

Also there another option is pant you can do. They are pretty much ready ready for a shop. If you take the parts all off and take it to a shop to paint it will be pretty cheap too.

This is me just guessing and trying to help. You have all real concerns. Until we get parts to play with we will not know.

7 years sounds fantastic it makes more sense with that time frame. I’ve wrapped small stuff and it’s easy. So i am in

I dont imagine that installing the wrap will be difficult, they are supposed to supply the tools, and instructions to make it easy.

I was told at the Government Fleet Expot last week by their "Head of Fleet Sales" that they are going to install the wrap, and any other accessories before you take delivery, any changes after that can be DIY, or they will put you in contact with an installer if DIY is not for you.

I was also told that they are working with the vinyl manufacturers to make sure that they get the right type of vinyl for the plastic they are using, not any vinyl will work, so it will be best to order the wrap kit through them instead of using a local wrap shop to supply the material at least. I thought that part was interesting and i appreciate that they are taking the steps to create a long lasting wrap.

the video with Rich Rebuilds strongly implied that they are planning on it being under the frunk...

  • (34:32-34:57): Eric Kyper, the head of engineering, confirms that the current focus is on bringing the rear-wheel-drive model to market. However, he also hints at a future "Slate portfolio of vehicles with additional features that may or may not fit right underneath the frunk," suggesting that an all-wheel-drive option could be considered for future iterations.

I just hope that it is something that we can add to our blank slate as a DIY kit!!! as long as they have the plugs on the battery pack it would be an easy upgrade for some of us (myself included)

The image I posted was an attempt at humor.

FWIW, yesterday I mentioned AWD two places in my post in that video's thread, including what Eric Kyper said regarding Slate's portfolio of vehicles.

For lots of reasons I'd put the chances of a DIY Retrofit AWD Kit at 1% tops. Let's not hijack this thread to discuss that topic. I started a thread for discussing that.

I thought it was funny, and that is exactly what i would have been looking for given the chance... I just wanted to exand on it a little, I had just watched the video so it was top of mind for me.
