Just an observation....

People want their favorite feature included by default.

It's human nature.

Every buyer pays extra for the feature whether they use it or not.

Slate Automotive is laser-focused on building a factory and shipping a product.

The OG Slate Truck will be for Early Adopters who accept its limitations.

Heck, some of those Early Adopters will even embrace the fact that it will have Missing Features they won't need to pay for.

Exactly. awd/4wd with a bigger battery will probably be the NEXT thing slate does. As soon as design is finalized and production is going, the design team will probably switch to that as the second model. But first they are concentrating on getting the FIRST model out. They seem to have plenty of people who want that first model, and if they can reach a profit like they claim, they will probably expand production rapidly, and then expand offerings rapidly.

Wonder if the 4wd/awd version be the focus of a second production line?

A second production facility has already been mentioned, probably depends on how fast they get one online, and how different that model is. There might just be some frame and wiring differences, with much of the line shared.
