If you you can conclude anything from the Slate Website Events page, it is that these trucks are going to California and Fleet buyers way before those of us that live elsewhere are going to have a chance of receiving one. 😠

That is very disappointing to me. I live in the backwoods of a state that has a very low EV adoption rate. I don’t think I should be ‘punished’ for where I live.

I get it Slate needs to move volumes at the lowest cost, but never the less it is inequitable to the earliest reservation holders that are not Californians or Fleet buyers.

End rant.

I thought the events are in California for the exposure (media/$$$). Does it have anything to do with the infrastructure, i.e., availability of charging stations?

There also seems to be more events in Socal than Norcal. In the bay area, the EV adoption rate is indeed very high. There are all sorts of Teslas, Kias, and Hyundai's everywhere. I see more Equinox than Bolts. Fewer Mach-Es than Rivians. Even fewer Lucids. You bring up a very good point though, is it smart to push Slate harder in a high EV area? How about pushing it in a high pickup/truck area? I have been to small towns up north where there are more trucks than cars. I feel Slate has a good chance converting truck owners to EV. Out there, I imagine it's easier to set up your home solar charging station.

My weekend trips include a pit stop at a major fuel hub. Among the 5 gas stations, there are Tesla superchargers, electrifyAmerica stalls, and even a Rivian Adventure Network (with 6 chargers, 1 of them a pull-through). I am still all ICE and get gas at Mobil.

My reservation was made in August so I expect to get one next year. I will be very desperate by then and won't need a test-drive. If it can drive straight off a car carrier, I will take it. 😂

I can relate. Suspect your area will be higher on list than mine.
My plan is take delivery in Ca. Has to be shipped anyway and expect I will have to absorb that cost.

Their design studio is in long beach, which is probably where they keep the marketing cars they show off at these events (in addition to warsaw and michigan). So their events in LA are likely due to staff location/availability and vehicle location
I'm sure this is the main reason for a bunch of the events. Would be nice if they would spread them out a bit, I think all but 1 southern California event must have been within 30 miles of their studio.

Look at the order forum post here. Massive % of buyers are in CA.

Have you had a vehicle shipped from CA to HI? Curious if you could share cost. Not that I will ever be in that situation!
