Isn't the point being all the 'updates' haven't really said anything new or useful? It's mostly been 'we'll know more as we get closer to production' - which really isn't informative.

I get it - potential buyers are weighing their options on how to best spend their money. There's some lingering questions to be answered with solid facts, and enthusiastic speculation is insufficient.
So the alternative of say nothing, post nothing, and hope people are just organically talking about it come June? Yeah, that's quality brand managment...

Look at Slate's YouTube channel and browse their videos. Not many have useful content, and most look like advertisements as social media posts.

The more informative videos are from Sandy Monro and others.

Edit: I guess some are contented with the fun & funny social media posts while others want more substantive information. The time & effort of Brand Management might be better spent answering questions instead of dodging them? Not my brand though.

There is a difference between "sucking you in with a narrative" and spending money on a product, that isn't disposable junk like almost everything these days.
I'd like to hear more about the pudding, please. Tapioca is my favorite.

So if every blank Slate comes off the line identical does that mean the battery choice is then installed?

Battery is the one difference in the trucks coming off the line from what we've been told. Vehicle VIN numbers usually code for what engine, transmission etc a vehicle has. With Slate it will likely have some digits that tell that it is a Slate, and the year, and a digit for battery, and the rest will be sequential.

They did all the initial information dump video after launch, they did a huge Q&A video and have great chat agents available most days. They cant release EVERYTHING before they finalize it and pricing. Also, with nothing else to currently reveal waiting for the price drop, it’s either, quick shirt video, that keep brand recognition up and anticipation present, or sit on their hands and do nothing until the even. I would much rather they keep posting SOMETHING regularly, instead of looking like a dead brand for months upon months. That’s what would make people think they have failed

Please review video about 4:30. “exactly the same” wouldn’t indicate 2 battery variations to me. But I could be wrong.

Yeah they seem kinda wishy-washy on this. You can’t upgrade the battery later, but all the same maybe the battery is last in line, or since the exterior and software will likely be identical, all they have to do is do builds in batches. Still seems like a weird choice to have no assmebly line changes, but there’s one.

I seem to recall the difference in the 2 batteries is number of pouchesused.

The Slate EV (scheduled for 2026 production) uses high-nickel NCM (Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese) pouch cells from SK On. The battery is configured into two distinct pack options that utilize a modular "bolt-together" design for scalability.
Charged EVs +2

Configuration & Architecture
  • Modular Pack Linking: The vehicle's higher-range option is achieved by physically bolting and electrically linking two separate packs together:
    • Base Pack: A single 52.7 kWh pack that provides approximately 150 miles of range.
    • Extended Configuration: An additional smaller 31.6 kWh pack is linked to the base unit to create a total 84.3 kWh configuration, extending range to 240 miles.
  • Physical Balancing: To maintain the truck's weight distribution, these packs are installed in a way that keeps the vehicle physically balanced from front to rear.
  • Thermal Management: The configuration uses liquid cooling to manage battery temperatures. Some speculation suggests the architecture may use built-in cooling plates similar to those found in the Ford F-150 Lightning modules.
    Reddit +4

Key Specifications
  • Cell Format: Pouch cells manufactured at SK On's U.S. facilities.
  • Charging Performance: The configuration supports DC fast charging up to 120 kW, allowing a 20% to 80% charge in roughly 30 minutes.
  • Upgrade Limitation: While the packs link together, this configuration is currently a factory-build choice; owners generally cannot "add on" the smaller 31.6 kWh pack to a base 52.7 kWh vehicle at a later date

I know someone did some math about how that work, that AI answer might be right off this forum tbh. Also, I bet alot of the battery specs have changed since the tax credit changed. But just module addition is a pretty standard practice. Ford does it with the Lightning and that’s a partner with SK-on. Tesla foesw it as well

Are you going to change the title of this post? It makes us Slate fans look like idiots.

Takes one to know one. I failed Kindergarten!

Last year I noticed that Idemitsu noted on the racing history page of their USA site that Mazda 7878 won the 1991 Le Mans using Idemitsu oil. I submitted two online inquires but got no response. Sometimes you just got to let it go. 😬

Yeah, but what are the sources. When you post an AI answer like that, your post becomes a source, so If I now do the same query, it likely points to this post as a source, poisoning the well. There is a lot of detail in that answer that seems like it is pure speculation.

So disregard. At this point it’s neither more or less accurate than most of the posts here. You post a lot, but what’s your credibility?

Seriously, when I try to research a topic posted with these AI answers, and find a source, all searching points back here to the post I am trying to find info on the details from. It's truly counterproductive, unless the post can include the links to sources.
