Just wondering, with the motor on the rear axle, would it be a bad idea to launch something? Good chance you'd get water up to or over it.

I grew up in Michigan. I don’t remember anyone ever having anything other than rear wheel drive. Snow, launching boats, etc. Never an issue. I’m actually looking forward to having a rear wheel drive only vehicle again even though I have been a front wheel drive fan for a long time and had one of the first SAABs. The simplicity of the Slate (no FWD CV joints to deal with for one along with no oil changes, tuneups etc) is very appealing.

Launching with rear wheel drive shouldn't be an issue, and was generally what one always did until recent years. Also, obviously one is going to be able to drive the vehicle in the rain and snow so while immersing it might not be recommended, it will be able to handle getting wet.
