agree with @Moe that Slate is highly likely to code scheduled charging functionality into their App, in order to use with any "dumb charger"... but as with so many things, we have to really wait and see to be certain.Question will I be able to set the charge start time when I charge my Slate?

Agreed. Some routers allow restricting devices to local traffic and one can usually manually configure a device’s IP settings with a bogus gateway address to keep its traffic local.Personally, I am not averse to many of the cheaper "connected" EVSE that are available. If you are not bothered or paranoid about devices with wifi/apps, choices abound.
I have had the OG Grizzl-e for more than a year with no problems on a Lightning and now an X5 PHEV. It’s stupidly easy to install and use.I understand that. It's pretty difficult to find a non wifi one. The Grizzl-e classic is one of the few I found that does not require an Internet connection to set up and set voltage.
I'd agree with all of those. For #6, outside of a few odd boutique items, there is no reason for DC fast chargers at home. They would be insanely expensive, and would need more power than the local grid transformers can supply. A good Level 2 charger is all you need, and even many people are good with Level 1 if they commute less than 30-40 miles a day and can plug in every night.So am I correct in the following understandings about level 1 & 2 EV charging?
1. Level 1 charging is 120V AC, just a cable that plugs into the wall on one end, and the EV on the other, no active electronics, except in the EV. Best on a dedicated circuit, but works with any circuit with outlets, but watch out for other concurrent loads.
2. Level 2 charging is 240V AC, just a cable that plugs into the wall on one end, and the EV on the other, no active electronics, except in the EV. Generally 240V circuits are dedicated circuits.
3. Slate provides a cable with appropriate adapters for Level 1 and Level 2 charging with adapters for various wall outlets and the Slate truck
4. Per the above comment, Slate provides a cable adapter from J1772 to NACS for use with charge stations that provide J1772 support
5. Installing an enhanced (anything beyond an outlet, is considered enhanced) EV charger system, generally hard-wired, on a dedicated circuit, with active electronics from various vendors provides no additional charging speed, but the electronics can provide features such setting charge times, lower charge speeds, reduced charge when overall house consumption is high (called intelligent load management, best if it has UL 3141 certification).
5a. Are there other enhancements of note not listed in #5?
6. I suppose EV fast chargers could be installed at home also, but my knowledge is a lot less here. Can they? What sort of circuits are required?
