I thought this was a worthwhile watch (as are a number of the videos posted by this creator.)
Summary
- most common warranty and roadside assistance callout - 12v battery
- most expensive warranty claim that, while rare, is in the top 5 - onboard charger/charge control module
- other items include power locks, suspension, and charge port faults, as well as items that don't apply to Slate (charge port flap actuator) and another that may only partially apply to Slate (parking sensors - unclear if backup camera and AEB would be included in this category)
Qualifiers - the creator is citing studies from European countries, not the US. And he is amalgamating them - so while he presents a top 5+ list, it pulls from more than one source.
Questions I have after this:
1) How do the Slate warranties (the 10 yr/110k mile Battery and Powertrain and the 4 yr/50k mile Standard Limited Vehicle) address the onboard charger/charge control module, the 12v battery, the HVDC/12VDC converter, and the NACS charge port?
2) Are the onboard charger/charge control module, HVDC/12CVDC converter and NACS charge port considered part of the HV system? Are they considered beyond the capability of the DIY owner to perform DIY warranty repair on these items? Will this limit the potential RepairPal locations that can work on them (to HV certified locations?)
