Something Slate Auto showed off at their Price Reveal Event that they are playing around with is an AI Generation tool for Custom Wrap Design

Very much still in the early stages of development and not guaranteed to be a feature in the future.

Last picture is actually u/limited_empathy on Reddit’s design but there was a similar one in the slide show that I wish I got video of so I’m borrowing that one since it’s possible to get a design like that one out of this software.

It's just a mad-lib style ai prompt generator, like what we've been playing with in the AI thread. I highly doubt it could ever generate a print-ready wrap design in the flattened format and resolution needed for a full size custom wrap.

AI is crap at a lot of stuff but with the right implementation, it could do that. There's tools out there to do similar things already. Although I wouldn't think Slate would be the ones to do that.

Slate is likely planning to print custom wraps, mainly for fleets, with company logos and art already on them, I can easily see them producing wraps based on what's generated with this, of course they would have a designer reviewing and adjusting.

They already have the drawings for all the panels on the truck. It shouldn't take rocket science to transfer artwork from an ai 3d image to the pieces of wrap that fit those panels.

I actually asked a while ago and they are planning to offer custom designed wraps with the estimated cost to be $1500

I believe that $1599 price is just to print the custom wrap, same as the custom color options in the maker. You'll still need the services of a designer to do the layout and prep the files if you're not savvy enough to DIY that part. It's unclear whether that will be an internal Slate team, or external partners though.

Considering they are building a facility in KY just for wraps, I have to think they are going to have staff designers. Mainly they would be doing fleet and business designs, but they would also be there for one-off consumer designs.

The quote I heard from their wrap guy was "We'll connect you with a designer." I would also think they would want to keep the work internal, but it was a vague comment.

Yeah, it could be an outside contractor, or a designer who is a Slate employee, either way connected to for a consultation.
