I don't think Slate has confirmed whether the Slate truck has a heat pump or resistive heater. Hope they somehow managed to include a heat pump for the $27K price.

Minnesotan here doubting for the price. Hoping but will take what I can get. Zip on Heated seat cover a definite must.

I read somewhere that a heat pump had been confirmed. It seems like it would be a crucial part of an already small battery short range vehicle not losing too much range in adverse weather.

Even if it's an option for additional cost, that's a win.

Hopefully it wil. Be a heat pump as it’s mainly just a valve on the AC reversing the coils. Should be minimal cost but when I reached out the response was negative. Maybe that will change.

I just got done in a chat and confirmed, no plans to go with a heat pump. This concerns me as I would think the resistive heat might use more power. but factually don't know that for sure.

A lot of that depends on how high you set the temperature. A resistive unit is more efficient at lower settings: 65-70. Once you get past that, it falls off pretty quickly.

Wonder if the target 150 mile range included summer and winter. A seasonal average and not just best case.

My guess is it was determined based on best case scenario.

That’s the best case for sure. When the ambient temperature drops to 30 degrees and below, I guarantee the quoted range will drop like a rock. Anyone with an EV knows this. The Slate is being built in Indiana with corporate HQ in Michigan, so they know what ‘real winters’ are like.
