The Slate configurator is much improved over the previous version, and navigating around is better streamlined with the top left drop down menu.

Was hoping there would be some 'starter' audio packages with receivers, tuners, amps, etc. at this stage, other than only speaker options. Looking forward to the next iteration.

I like the layout much better, but it’s not mobile oriented so was hard to navigate. Could still use some work but leagues better than before.

For the audio, I think Slate should go no more than a DIN or Double DIN option and have the users have at it, with decent wiring and power options.

I think they will most likely have both single and double din listed before launch. They will also be having 3rd party options there, it will be the "marketplace" so there will likely be options to do a whole audio package, if not at launch, soon after.

Leaving that out would be a.big oversight because they know audio is important to people.

Maybe they'll offer a "DIN Radio Kit" that provides everything you need except the radio unit and your choice of speakers.

Except it stands in contrast to the notion of Radical Simplicity you so often mention here.

I find your contradictions humorous! Soon you’ll be advocating for subscription based services 🤣

You're hallucinating a contradiction that doesn't exist.

Making it simpler to install a stereo doesn't go against Slate's ethos of Radically Simplicity.

Edit: If I ever appear to contradict myself just point it out. I'm happy to clarify and resolve the conflict.

To get to the hotspots, first click on the little camera icon in the lower left corner while in the configurator. This will open a white window on the right. click the 3d mode slider and wait. When 3d mode finally activates, another slider will appear that says animation hotspots.
Did anyone notice that when you select 'bring your own speaker' options that a JBL Bluetooth speaker appears in the center mount?

I'm now wondering if that is a signal that Slate auto may be partnering with Harman International for their speaker kits. Harmon owns all the premium automotive audio OEMs such as Mark Levinson, Harman Kardon, Infinity, AKG, and of course JBL. Interesting that they chose a JBL speaker over a generic type.

Fair enough!
You're hallucinating a contradiction that doesn't exist.
Ok. Rather strong & pointed phrasing calling this a 'hallucination' but I'll explain my point for you since it appears you don't see your contradiction. Here's my evidence:

Making it simpler to install a stereo doesn't go against Slate's ethos of Radically Simplicity.
The point you made was not 'making a simpler to install stereo' - it's about your position that Slate needs to 'provide a whole audio package'.

Your claim is in response to another post which you quoted and highlighted some text for emphasis that wasn't so formatted in its original post. By doing so, you emphasized a portion of the quote that you wanted to focus on. Here's the post I'm referring to:

I think they will most likely have both single and double din listed before launch. They will also be having 3rd party options there, it will be the "marketplace" so there will likely be options to do a whole audio package, if not at launch, soon after.

In referring to the above quote where you place emphasis on the phrase "there will likely be options to do a whole audio package" you state a position (presumably yours) that a Whole Audio Package is important to People. and Slate ought to provide it.

Two important points that are core to my accusation of contradiction:
1. You are changing your position
a. from Slate providing a 'whole audio package'
b. to Slate 'Making it simpler to install a stereo'
But more importantly:
2. Some will see a 'whole audio package' as a form of technology that isn't necessary to make the Slate Truck a truck, and can do without an audio package.

This is where I draw my conclusion that you are contradicting yourself saying on one hand the technology of an audio package is called for by 'people' and ought to be provided by Slate, yet you say the technology of another kind of radio communication in the form of a mobile data connection is problematic for 'people' and Slate should not be developing or providing such technology.

All well and good! I get it and understand where you draw your conclusions. You are under no obligation to belabor your points.

And like so many Righteous Forum Warriors and their Need to be Right, I truly don't want to be drawn into a useless online debate over the rightness of this or that. Believe what you want. But I personally am wary of those who go online and profess that their way is the only right way and try to push that opinion on others as the Truth and the Only Truth to be forced on others for compliance. At some point, it's useful to recognize the importance of allowing others to have their own opinions.

Isn't the center brake light usually on the roof? If you put the tailgate down, people can't see it. Also if you get the rear mount tire, you can't see it (unless it is on the center of the spare, which I couldn't see in the picture).

I usually read this forum on a tablet, and I can see even less of the image. It cuts off the top and bottom and the picture is even smaller than it was.
