The conundrum is that my littlest kiddo would need a stupid booster seat, which is undoubtedly more than 12" wide!
Oh I forgot about those! My kids aren't there yet, and back in my day we didn't have booster seats..

I somehow made myself sound young and old at the same time 😂

That’s me! I’m a grown ass GenX that has adult children AND kids in booster seats.

Skinny butts.
VERY skinny. This fills up the entire width available for the 'center' seat...

And in addition to not looking to have an abundance of excessive width to cut into either, these pre-production seats are also considerably more sculpted than the extremely flat prototypes seats that wouldn't have been out of place for a modern full-size truck 40/20/40 'bench'.

c'mon y'all - front bench seats were fun, back in the day, but how many new vehicles are even available with a 3 person front bench anymore? As far as I know, its only massive full frame trucks/SUV variants.

Look at it from another perspective- what is the **cheapest new vehicle available with this feature? Gotta be 3x the cost of the Slate, no?

Its just not an economically practical thing for a small car, and certainly would be a significant compromise, even when occupied by fewer than 3 (IMO). As far as I'm concerned, front bench effectively died when shoulder belts became mandatory.

They are only offered in the lowest trims of full-size trucks. So more like 1.6x.

I like the idea of the bucket seats, but also that center console type seat with flip down back for armrest.
Me too. That's why I got it in my F150. But my F150 is also nearly 10" wider than a slate.

So $39,920 gets you a full size with front bench?
Nope.

If we're being pedantic about it, even less: 1.5865731462925851703406813627255x does. :giggle:

But I also made a mistake. :surprised:
That was for regular cab RWD F150 XL, which apparently they currently only offer with the (typically optional) 5.0L V8... The regular cab RWD Silverado WT is actually offered with the base 2.7T at 1.4789579158316633266533066132265x of a Slate.

So only 49.298597194388777555110220440882% of (50.701402805611222444889779559118% less than) the 3x assumption.

And both are also even offering manufacturer discounts off the MSRP I used to get those numbers.

Is that Silverado an EV? Don’t think so.

Scout shows front bench seats in some of their teaser pictures.
Then again, is there ever going to be a new Scout, or has that ship sailed already?

Meh, wasn't really being pedantic, just was focused elswhere using a calculator was quickest.
That's awesome that benches are still on true work trucks, which of course makes complete sense.

In fact, come to think of it the tow truck I sadly rode in two day ago had a 40/20/40 bench, come to think of it ;)
