Because I like to dig around and lurk I've come across lots of juicy data for you all to pour over.

What if I told y'all most of the info for Slate's ECUs have been out in the open for a hot minute?

Turns out CyberCogs is the shell? for the supplier for all of the controls. All the way tucked at the bottom of their Products page is, well... quite oddly, a full line of ECUs that seem like they're at home in a Slate...

As a bonus-bonus: here's the keyfob. They make that, too. The battery is held in a seperate tray inside the fob from the actual endcap you replace.

Slate appears to be able to use a single source, CyberCogs, for their electronics (aside from the BMS and motor inverter/controller) and that has the potential for the ECUs to play well together.

Ah. I've been lurking the FCC directly on some (other) stuff - ended up accidentally falling into CyberCogs' FCC listings. Nothing else (yet) but now I'm watching it like a hawk.

I do like that keyfob design, and it's re-assuring to know if the bottom gets damage the battery can still stay in the fob. I've had some Honda ones that start falling apart and the back holds the battery in.

This is one of the things that most excites me about the Slate. Multiple ECU problems are the bane of modern vehicles and it’s not just EVs. Maverick Hybrid owners have experienced three years of problems that now point to ECUs that won’t sleep, and that’s supposed to be fixed (again) in 2027.

I don’t know anything about the complete CyberCogs architecture but it appears they’ve designed complete vehicle support. Even just having everything from one vendor is a step in the right direction.

Yes, it's been known for a few weeks that Cybercogs is the vendor for the telematics and secure gateway components, check out these threads:

Not out today, but the FCC links are good additional info I hadn't seen before!

Note that while it's basically confirmed that the secure gateway/key fob insertion unit and the telematics module are Cybercogs, that doesn't necessarily mean that all the other Cybercogs stuff is included. The PTC heaters and wattages mostly make sense for the PDU, but that's basically just a big junction box with fuses, the Cybercogs charging unit has V2L that Slate has said isn't included, the VCU might be a match but we don't know, the BMS is probably made by Gotion so maybe the charging unit is too, the motor/inverter combo is probably made by JJE.... It does make sense to have one vendor to blame if anything doesn't work together, but those are the only two known modules.

I believe the BMS was developed with Re:Build Manufacturing and is now RBM's proprietary/in-house system.

Edit: That was probably inaccurate. What I've seen is, Re:Build supported development of the BMS architecture, developed a testing platform and automation, designed some components, and then, "Slate experience directly informed Re:Build's proprietary BMS platform".

Still, a lot implies in-house development work on the BMS, so it's probably not just whatever Gotion supplies with the cells?

Cool. Now we just need to know what features the Slate App has.

For example, can I schedule charging in the middle of the night, so when I wake up I have a full battery? Some chargers have this feature, so if the Slate or Slate App doesn’t, it might be worth looking for a charger that does. Charging to 100% and then letting your EV sit for over 8 hours is not good for it, regardless of chemistry. It would also be nice to know what percentage your battery is currently at, especially in the Winter, or if it’s been sitting for a while too.

Why? Never owned an EV but I have plenty of rechargeable batteries, fully charged, sitting on a shelf waiting to be used.

Is it? I was going to say "it's LFP" until I saw you said "regardless of chemistry". Is it really a problem to sit at 100% charge for less than a day? I wouldn't know, but that sounds worse than I've heard.
