Do you really think Tesla is going to announce something low priced? They seem to be going the opposite direction.
Yeah. With Ford saying they are starting at $30k on their new platform and Slate targeting mid-twenties, Tesla needs to respond. The fact that they brought Sandy Munro and other influencers to Giga Texas to see what is essentially another trim level of and existing model tells me they think it is something special. I think the ceiling of this announcement is $34,990 and the floor is $24,990. If they come in higher than $35k then it flops like the 2WD Cybertruck did.

Ended up being 39K for the Model Y Standard and 37K for the Model 3 Standard (Both are RWD only). The Model 3 Standard seems to be like the good deal here having comparatively very little features removed and looking nearly identical to the Premium Model 3 for 5K less. But a lot of people are disappointed in the Model Y Standard.

If it was just the Model Y standard releasing at 40K for AWD and 35K for RWD would have been the best. But with both I think the Model 3 Standard at 35K even with some more features removed and 38K for Model Y Standard at least meeting around the price of where the old tax credits were would have been good. But I really feel like the Model Y Standard is just a way of making the Model Y premium the more attractive option, boosting the sales of their most popular product. While the Model 3 Standard feels more like its actually intended to sell in great numbers.

Agree 100%.

Several of the YouTubers have said you need to check the configurator for current pricing almost as if they are expecting Tesla to change it. Perhaps they are feeling out what prices unlock the optimal demand? If they came in at $30k for the standard Y then perhaps they have a backlog of orders? I do like that the standard Y has 18s instead of 19s and the glass roof is covered so it isn’t a greenhouse. I also was pleasantly surprised that you could add the tow hitch. I was expecting it to have LFPs and not the same battery chemistry as current Y with less cells though. The frunk area was a disappointment. It almost seems like your luggage could get wet in the frunk.
