Adding a screen for AA/Carplay is WAY cheaper than I thought it would be

I didn't even know these exist. The quality probably isn't great, but could be a cheap solution to hold you over till you can afford a double din headunit. Any where from 45 dollars to a couple of hundred.

My dumb question is... if I do install a double-din unit, will it fit "smooth" in the dash? Will I have to cut panels? I want something to look like it belongs.

I'd imagine the aftermarket will have a panel for mounting, they already made custom panels for cars with far more complicated interiors.

Wondering if that screen would fit in a modified tablet mount that’s offered as a Slate option. That would be a nice aftermarket accessory.

Slate has said one of the panels is in fact double-din sized. I'm guessing it's the one on the right of the steering wheel.

I got one of these for my 2018 Caravan that doesn't have AA and it works surprisingly well but it does feel cheap. Hopefully we'll be able to find one that feels a little more premium.

I was initially thinking just using an iPad to display the slate app and do car play from my phone. But then I saw the SXT-C10PS that pioneer is coming out with, and it’s retro style is so cool and seems perfect for an OEM look in the slate.

note I’m not a paid endorser for pioneer but I am very excited about this radio I hope a single din mount is available for it!!

I like this head unit and think it's a great fit for the Slate....until I saw the price at $452.

I think I'll wait for a sale at Best Buy.

I’d be happy with my phone and a MagSafe mount if it connects to the speakers on power up. The only part of my radio I touch on a regularly is the volume knob.

Does anyone know if any of these screens specifically has the ability to withstand extreme cold / heat so it can be left in the car during extreme weather?
