But….

Such a strange response to this. Upping the base range is awesome. 205 miles at 25k is great! But they pre-fabbed this question about extended range battery and then don’t even outright answer it. Bleh

I saw that and suspect we will see more updates before you are required to finalize your order.

Ha! The classic response that we’ve seen time and time again.

Actually, I suspect the extended range is DOA. I bet Slate realized any hope of govt subsidies was gone, so country of origin didn’t matter. Switch from NMC to LFP, for a less dense but cheaper pack, with a bit more range. A good trade for many who were okay with 150 miles, not so good for those who were set on extended battery

Well they listened about more standard range, so we need to keep the pressure on gor an extended range version, hopefully they are still listening.

If it's less energy dense it wouldn't achieve more range. I doubt they switched to LFP to achieve this.

I went from 100% going to preorder today to not even sure if I'm ordering one anymore without an extended range. 240 barely fit my needs, but I could make it work. 205 isn't going to work for me.

Sorry I poorly explained. The standard range and extended range better were rumored to be the same form factor but different qty of mods inside. My assumption is they kept the same form factor, but switched to LFP, effectively having a “full” pack of less dense mods.

A better way to look at it would be, all Slates are now “extended range” of a less dense chemistry, effectively going from 240-> 205, and killing the smaller option altogether.

The reason this is important is, I believe it is the reason there is no extended range offered now, it simply wouldn’t fit.

Ah that makes sense.

Being LFP it's safe to charge to 100% regularly, unlike NMC, right? So it may actually represent a slightly higher usable range.
